So last weekend I was in Las Vegas and went to Exotics Racing Las Vegas. Terrific staff and great instructor (Tio) in the GT3 991.2 I took around the track. I couldn’t believe the grip the car had in the corners, and in braking (down from 120 on the straight to a hard right turn). It had Pilot Sport Cup 4’s. I have to say, I don’t think performance suffered one bit, and particularly for every day driving I don’t see any reason why I would keep the PS Cup 2’s on the car. Have to believe that in the rain the 4’s would be SO much better.

4S are way better than Cup2 for a daily and in another league in the wet. The reality is Cup2 manage to be an average street tire and an average track tire.

No not at all - the 4S are an excellent street tire (and behave as a street tire round a track).

Whereas Pilot Sport Cup 2 are neither a good street tire or a good true track tire. They are average at both at best. However, round a track they are better than the 4S as you would expect (basically good for DE days and driving to and from - I guess in this respect they fulfill the design brief).

MPSC2 are trying to be all things to all people which is a very difficult circle to square.

I hope this made sense this time 😀

For a Touring car especially, I have found the 4S n spec tires to be perfect. I have about 5400 miles on them and they look like they will easily make to 10,000 miles. Handling is great and wet weather performance is just fine. I don't tract my car though. The rears are fading faster than the fronts for sure I might add - which is to be expected. I'll definitely go back to the 4S tires again and again.

Sure, I'm on newer generation cups, I think they're way better than the N0 cups.

I’ve had both Cup2 and PS4S. 4S is great for daily use, much better in the rain, can be tracked but...no comparison to a Cup 2 on the track. For the 4 DE events I do a year, and trying to pretend I know what I’m doing, Cup 2 at the track is worth any trade offs. If you just wanted to head to the track for sh**s and giggles, PS4S is fine.

In Poland car dealer told me only acceptable tire for GT3 is the CUP 2 and even they wrote to Porsche Poland and there isn't 1 unique opinion if we can use 4S or not without having problems with guaranty or in case of accident. Final version they gave me after many talks betweens dealers and importer was just use Cup2 to avoid any doubt's

Strange. My local Porsche-dealer mounted and balanced my PS4S's... After removing the stock DUNLOP Maxx Race 2's (which are also not Cup 2's)...

VERY strange.... I bought PS4S tires from my Porsche dealer. They also removed my Dunlop Maxx Race 2's and then mounted and balanced the new PS4S.

i know is a controversial question. Dealer says N tires should be a ok but Porsche Poland says only cup and no one wants to write it. Problems would start in the day something goes wrong

I saw that too - I think you need the N0 rated “Porsche” designated model.

You can put any road legal tire on the car that you own - N series tires just happen to be optimised for various Porsche models.
