Default 991.2 Oil Leak

991.2 GT3 Oil Leak
Mileage: 4500
Track Days: 6
PDK
On track day number 6, checked oil after run group and noticed an abrupt drop in oil level from about 2/3 down to add oil message. Added about ¾ Qt of oil and all was fine for the remainder of the event. Two days later put the car up to do an oil change. Drained the oil and while waiting for the oil to drain began to clean up the belly pan. When I turned it over notices an oily dirt mark at the rear of the pan. On investigation discovered an oil drip on the underside of the pulley.
Diagnosis: Oil Supply tube had a pin hole leak at the crimp.
Local Porsche Dealer is replacing. Fortunate I found the leak before I blew the line and did serious damage to the engine and had to pay for track cleanup. Oil supply line failure is apparently not uncommon in GT3s. As a side note, when they were putting the muffler back on, the mounting studs on the muffler broke off at the welds.

I think I have the same leak. I found a drip on the metal piece next to the pulley. A little oil is found on the pan by the muffler. Is this the same spot as yours?

Here are the pics. Did the engine come out to fix the line or just muffler out?

can't believe you have to replace the engine for this...does the dealer check for this at oil change?

Where did he say the engine has to be replaced?

Oops misread it from the other thread - they had to remove the engine not replace it. Still a bummer.

I sure hope this does not require the engine out to fix. I can see the crimp the OP mentioned.

They are designed to drop the engine quickly. Engine removal is no big deal.

I also found a similar oil droplet forming on the metal piece outside of crank pulley as JC68. No oil stains on the diffuser tray yet. Car has 2000 miles. It should be the oil pipe assembly that supplies oil to the crank. This is a 991.2 GT3/RS only part as now we have hollow crank that oil can flow through. I suggest all of .2 GT3/RS owners should take a look at yours.

Update: Cleaned off the wet area and went for a drive this morning. Came back, put the car on the lift and see no signs of seepage. The car has been to 4 track days so far. Did not consume any oil. I guess the leak is slow for now. Spoke to local dealer and was told they haven't seen something like this before.

If it’s that slow, maybe switching to 5W40 oil would help or fix it...

Funny, that's what I did with my 996GT3. The bottom of engine was always damp. Switched to Motul Xcess 8100 5w-40 and is bone dry ever since.

But if this is an oil pipe that is defective at the crimp like in OP's car, I'd like to have it replaced.
