Default 991.2 GT3 with oil leak (1000 miles odo)

I removed the under car panel to install my center muffler bypass. Mid way through the install I was looking around the engine and noticed an oil leak. I cleaned everything up and cannot find where it originates from. It was all gunky so probably slowly leaking for a while. I highlighted the area in red. Any thoughts? Any way bailed on the install and put everything back to stock (don't want to have any issues with warranty work). Will be calling my dealership shortly but will probably need to wait until it leaks more before bringing it in.

Oil and gunk sitting on the undertray

Oil and gunk along that seam

No evidence of oil leak from that oil drain plug

If that is the oil container, then the seam is leaking. Mine leaked after a 1000 miles as well and was replaced.

Had to remove the engine. Took a couple of days. The way the car is engineered, its no big deal to remove the engine.

Hi all, I didn't want to start a new thread and I apologize to OP, I didn't want to turn this into a big deal.

But has anyone here seen this Facebook thread, there's 5 reported engine failures with the 991.2 GT3.

You might need to create an account to log in. Look under Manuel Staiger https://m.facebook.com/groups/840678...cus_composer=0

Hopefully they stop using that batch of what ever that part does.

That seam is so badly botched. I would be underneath my car tomorrow checking it out.

Dropped the car off today. Will be at the dealership for 3-4 days getting that oil container replaced. If anybody has a 991.2 consider removing the diffuser to check for oil leaks

I have a Touring coming in. Do you think I would be asking too much from the dealer to inspect the oil container before I take delivery?

That part of the tray can be inspected without removal or jacking of the car. Just lie under the car's right rear wheel and aim your iPhone flashlight from above the tray and you'll be able to see any pooled oil, if it exists.

You can inspect more thoroughly with the tray removed, but if there is a big problem you will see it without removal (and you can see the tank seam as well without removing the tray)
