I have too many auto addictions, or at least my wife says I do... I can make a case for all of them! ( is denial the first step to addiction?)

Performance and price would levitate into a different territory (well above 300k € in Europe).

I believe it difficult to see an Hybrid variant of the 991 chassis, but the 992 will most definitely have Hybrid or even full Electric variants.

Any thouhgts?

Will the 991 go out with a version sporting technology from the 918?
Basic meat and potatoes GT2 RS this time around. Don't expect any radical surprises.

The real wildcard will be what they do with next one vis a vis the upcoming RSR. How far forward will they actually move the engine/trans? Will engine/trans swap places? We know it's going to be turbo but will it employ hybrid tech as well? The production models derived from this platform will be very interesting but they're still a few years out. A sub 7-minute ring time seems within grasp, as insane as that sounds.

I was hoping for something different but agree with you that it's still the 991 platform so it's not likely to see a change in the drivetrain to include a battery/hybrid. A logical safe assumption is that it will likely be a lot like the GT3 RS but with the 3.8 DI motor...maybe the same power level as the 997 at 620 HP but with the PDK. Not very exciting sounding but at that power level could do a lot more downforce and with some suspension tweaks could be moderately faster than the GT3 RS.

I'd love to see more too but even the current GT3RS with just the old 997 GT2RS engine would be very fast.

Last I read the GT Dept is able to push out around 2500 cars/yr. If it is true that between 400 to a thousand units of the GT2RS will be built then what else will be built? 991.2 GT3s even though they have not been announced yet? Another batch of .1 RS, or does PAG have something up their sleeve? Thoughts? Something has to be up. That production capacity will not be allowed to go to waste.

If not at Paris in a couple of weeks, most likely in Geneva in March 2017, which should soak up some of the Mortorsport Division capacity, which along with the soon-to-be announced GT2/RS should keep AP and his boys at or near full capacity.

Most likely keep making 991rs along the side of the 991gt2rs. Should keep them reasonably busy until .2 will be released in Geneva next year.

I'm sure they've increased production capacity due to the success of the GT3, GT4, and RS. They'll build a lot more of the .2GT3 cars than the GT2/GT2RS cars in the next 12-18. My guess is that the .2GT3RS and 718 GT4 are coming March 2018.

Would not expect to see a 2RS from a bum in seat point until mid to late 18.

Cross post
No surprises but seems like they are staying the course to skip GT3RS and go straight to GT2RS.
I wonder if they are adding aero to the front to compensate for the diffuser + big *** wing.

my 0.02
-Big aero will be what make the GT2RS and Viper ACR beater. plus everything else now with TQ.
-Maybe active aero like the TTS?
-Improved RWS
-Further weight loss to compensate for the TT weight, this could be solved with straight pipes after market
-More room for suspension adjustability
-Stiffer springs to deal with down force
-This time no limited edition, its the new unlimited GT3RS and they will pump out the super reliable turbo motor faster than ever before.
