Can't get anymore Ferrari sounding than this.

Has Dundon reported numbers and necessity of a tune to avoid a CEL with their race system? Maybe I missed it.

If I had to choose between the multiple commercially available exhaust systems, I would take Akrapovic.

I know little about this stuff but I don’t think the Dundon requires a tune as they are 200cel. Maybe someone can confirm?

The race system has no cats on it, that would be the reason for a tune to mitigate the check engine light.

The street systems with cat's should be fine and not trigger a CEL.

If one has money to waste sure. Build quality great but these cars need nothing more than a bypass for sound or side deletes. But for strictly performance would do Dundon.

Has anyone truly independent (i.e., not a manufacturer, not a supplier, not a shop or a tuner, not an owner and not a friend, relative or an associate of any of the foregoing) done a truly independent test of the major aftermarket exhaust systems in absolutely equal laboratory conditions using independently certified equipment? If so, can you give me a link? Thanks.

Here is a video with just the slip-on muffler from Akrapovic -

We've got a shipment on the way and all the units that arrive are being saved for those who place pre-orders.

To see which system is truly best in performance. Claims from sources with prejudice/conflicts of interest are interesting but empirical facts are better. Then armed with this factual information, one could make a determination of quality, materials, etc. to arrive at which system really is the best.

P.S. I have no ties whatsoever to any aftermarket manufacturer/supplier of engines or exhaust systems but I have had occasion to witness the testing of several well known engines which, for example, claimed in excess of 400 HP but which, when subjected to unbiased testing on a certified dyno, were shown to actually be in the range of 350 HP to 360 HP. Likewise, certain exhaust systems which made substantial claims of increased HP actually produced much less than what was claimed.

The evaluation of aftermarket car modifications, regardless of marque, rely largely on subjective owner impressions and self validating anecdotes. Objective, testable and repeatable data are not considered an appropriate substitute for vigorously held opinion. You knew that all along, didn’t you?

Charles Revson (the founder of Revlon) said "we don't sell cosmetics, we shell hope". Perhaps exhaust systems are a bit like that. For myself, however, I would not buy one without conclusive, unbiased facts. Perhaps that is why I have never bought an aftermarket system.

Does anyone know, with certainty, if stock tips will work with the Akropovic center delete (it looks like they should)? My guess is that they will or they wouldn't sell their tips separately, but, I would really like to have some confirmation on this.

Thanks,

Randall
