A friend just bought one and I asked how they access the engine for service. Being new, he didn't know. It wasn't obvious how the topside interior trim comes off, if at all.
Thanks,
Sherwood

These should give you a better idea. Note, the headers have been removed in the bottom photo.

Although, I will take credit for the drain labels.
As you can see, access is more involved than popping a hood, but once it's opened up, it's actually quite good.

Someone needs to attack that cosmoline with some mineral spirits. DOWN WITH COSMOLINE!

I just bought a Cayman two days ago.
Having checked on a Chevy two weeks ago, I couldnt agree more. They make your skin crawl.
The Cayman is a nice car. Light nimble and has great feedback. Sports car rather than GT.
On tight twisty courses it will be a really good drive.

I guess dealers aren't aware of their impact on the vehicle. IMO, the two cars are in different worlds. I've had a few pcars, but a few vettes too, and current have both although not a Cayman. I've also had my fair share of bone-head dealers. I just nod and listen to the BS. After all, you only have to deal with the sales-idiot once, but the car will be around for a while... well, usually anyway.

When I was looking at both the normal vette with the Z51 pkg, and the Z06 and cayman S, one thing that seriously annoyed me was that the chevy dealers simply did not want to hear a thing about test drives, or anything of the sort. The dealer was clueless about the car, etc.
I was able to get a very nice test drive in a cayman S without even having to ask twice. And I put a deposit on one.
Turns out, I had a last minute change of heart and went in a different direction, decided to keep my current p-car and get a quick 4 passenger daily driver.

Just get a GT3 and a Z06. 2 excellent cars with very different rides. Ive had crappy experiences with GM dealers as well...just keep looking until you find a good one...they do exist. My pcar dealer is always awesome!

Since some of you have not seen the engine in a CaymanS... here are a few photos to add to the ones posted earlier:
I am, first of all, a car nut... and I would love to be able to add a Corvette C6 or C6-Z06 to my stable any day. I think it is a great car and GM has done a lot to improve interior quality from previous generations. Make mine LeMans Blue as well...
