Just picked up a 2007 Boxster S that needs a little love. First order of business is fixing the convertible transmission gear. Top was making a pretty bad knocking noise, which is now totally fixed. Thankfully the driver side had already been upgraded! $45 in parts and a few hours work and my top is 100% functioning and smooth.
Great work! How easy was the fix? My 2009 operates but seems to be making the same sort of knocking noise. Also, where did you acquire your parts?
What material are the risers? If ABS, is there significant wobble from the wing at higher speeds?
I'd have to think it's billet aluminum, and no, there's no significant wobble. I see a slight flutter/vibration in the rear view at high speeds. Jon @ Composite Concepts is the creator who spec'd this piece from the OEM wing at a fraction of the price.

Honestly not too bad. I spent about 3-4 hours doing both sides, which included disassembling both transmissions and re-greasing everything. I bought the gears off of Amazon. $39 for one, $45 for the other. They are both composite plastic and apparently much stronger than the originals.

Yesterday, I replaced my scratched door trim insert. It's something I've wanted to do since I bought it in May.
My 2010 CS was treated with TLC by its prior one owner. It's a testament to the poor quality of the soft touch finish that scratches abound on almost every surface.
I also plan on doing the same piece on the passenger door, but I may wait until next spring.
I would rate this as a relatively simple DIY project. It took about 4 hours, but I work slowly and clean surfaces to which I otherwise don't have access when they're disassembled.
Be very careful when removing the triangle holding the electric mirror switches. The bottom is secured with two horizontal clips, the top slides down, securing itself to the flimsiest inverted "T" mounting point. You need to pop out the bottom of this triangle and then slide it upwards to remove it. I did something short of that and almost ripped the inverted T right off its mounting. I used some crazy glue to sorta fix it. It's fine now, but it's not something I want to ever have to go back to.
I found that #6 screws were the perfect size to fit the posts in the new trim piece. Unlike Kiznarsh, I found that 5/8" were too long for this project. Unfortunately, I found this out with the door apart. I had to improvise and cut them to length - the smallest approx 1/4", the longest approx 1/2". In one case, I bought myself some wiggle room by doubling up on the #6 washers.
Purely speculative - my new stone gray piece had a date of manufacture of Feb 2011. The black one that Kiznarsh installed appears to have a sometime in 2017 date stamp. Does this difference in age have anything to do with the relative popularity of the latter interior color relative to the former? Anyway, interesting to think that this trim piece has been sitting in a warehouse for 10-years prior to my having installed it in my car. The piece I replaced had a date stamp of August 2008. It's hard for me to say whether there's any real difference in the quality of the soft touch between the two.
Interesting. His diffuser is certainly more reasonable than the Verus carbon fiber.

Added LED's to my 987s. For less than $75 this was a fantastic upgrade! Also did the front fogs which are substantially brighter now and match the headlights really well.
