Happily, I avoided that fate.

I'm glad I saw this after I undertook this project. Had I properly understood the consequences of dropping a screw, some of my fumbling could have gone the other way!

Today was all about the wheels - cleaned them inside and out.

How does one determine if they have a serviceable IMS bearing? I have an '06 Boxster S 3.2 - I believe it's a late '05 build date. Would it have a serviceable bearing

i'll be opening the trunk of my '07 cayman to retrieve my foxwell ODBII reader...

all in a desperate attempt to clear one of the 8-10 ECU monitoring items that refuses to be "verified" in my other (unmentionable) sports car. it's smog testing time again. and unless and until the ECU monitoring information has been gathered, sorted and collated correctly, you are deemed unworthy to even be judged by the smog guys.

I believe they transitioned the IMS rather early in the ‘05 model year, but I am certainly not an authority. A number of threads, and websites from the folks posting within them, provided part of the answer for me.

installed a piece of broken plastic in the frunk that holds (barely) the cabin air filter in place. then washed the wheels, then checked for the first time, using my foxwell ODBII scaner with the porsche software on it, the overrev report. results were:

1 2325
2 285
3 1
4 2
5 1
6 0

i've read that ranges 1 and 2 can be ignored as well any with counts less than 4 so i'm satisficed. of course, i may be fooling myself...

Put on a GT4 wing to provide needed downforce at high speeds generated by the FSI stage II engine. Front splitter is next.

Just picked up a 2007 Boxster S that needs a little love. First order of business is fixing the convertible transmission gear. Top was making a pretty bad knocking noise, which is now totally fixed. Thankfully the driver side had already been upgraded! $45 in parts and a few hours work and my top is 100% functioning and smooth.

What material are the risers? If ABS, is there significant wobble from the wing at higher speeds?

They are Avant Garde forged wheels. I don't see them on the current list though: http://avantgardewheels.com
