The Official Boxster/Cayman Rim (Wheel) Showoff Thread!
#166
Well, the wheels just showed up. I think I most certainly got what I paid for and more. For $1850 delivered, I'm pretty certain they were a smokin' deal.
They're very light and look pretty darn good. It's clear by the weight that they're truly forged wheels.
The brushed finish isn't perfect but oh well, I guess I can't complain too much for the price, so as long as they hold up. It is kind-of cool that I got to design my own center cap.
Anyhow, I'm getting Yokohama V105 tires mounted tomorrow and will post pics on the car.
In the meantime:

Here are some on the car pics. In some angles and lighting they look brighter. Others they look a darker titanium color.
A good neutral color and easier to clean the barrels than the old wheels.
19x8.5 - 45 offset
19x10 - 40 offset
245/40 & 275/40
These more aggressive offsets and tire sizes filled in the wheel gap a bit more, pushed the wheels out to be more flush with the fenders. Zero rubbing issues.
Overall it came out pretty good!
I'd say I got a smoking deal and thus far am quite pleased. Anticipating the quality will hold up, I'll be pleased x2. They should be fine, as this MFG makes VIA/JWL certified wheels.

Total: $2430

Looks like you got some kinda Lightning McQueen filter going in this pic. The rear wheel is egg shaped.

Thank you- I recently bought this car and totally agree!
All these photos "showing off" stock wheels on stock cars... everyone knows how to use Google lol

Going retro with Cup II wheels on my 987 Boxster. The car came with 19" wheels & summer tires. Was looking for a more comfortable ride and full all-season capability (Continental DWS-06). Added 15mm spacers on the rears to get things right. Fronts are just right without any spacers. Installed them today and took the car for a ~30 mile spin... The harshness of the 19" inch tires is gone, ride is very good, handling feels good to me.

@SpyderSenseOC Would you be able to go into detail or direct me to a resource you used on how you were able to get these GT3 wheels on your lovely Spyder? I'm definitely a wheel/tyre n00b but am mostly interested to know if they fit on your Spyder that perhaps they may fit on a future 987.1 CS. Thanks in advance!

Also, is your setup flush to the rear fender? How would you modify the offset to achieve the flush look?
One of my tires completely blew so I'm looking to replace the wheels and tires soon (as it's my daily)
