Finally installed an Antigravity battery in the car. No issues with the stock battery but I have a friend in the parts business who gave me a great deal. The stock battery is 45lbs and the new battery is about 18lbs for an approximate savings of 27lbs. A win/win if you ask me!
I also replaced the rear storage lids on the car. They both became brittle, either from previous ownership or cleaning products. The "conveyor" style lids just started to get a white discoloration and broke apart. So I ordered a new set from Suncoast. Unfortunately no pictures of that.
I snapped a cool picture looking through the window at the new interior Pepita mods to the lower dash.
I'm working on having another set of mirrors created for another project, this time using a spread tow fabric with a large square weave and GSM.
Lastly, the area I live in has several amazing places in terms of race teams, performance shops, private satellite locations for well known companies in Motorsports etc. I had a recent invite to RennTech and to meet founder Hartmut Feyhl. I can literally walk to this place from my house but just have never made the stop. All I can say is good lord!
I've been on the hunt for a Vorsteiner V-CS GT4 diffuser for quite some time now, years to be exact. For those that are not aware, this was a carbon diffuser replacement offered that is now discontinued. In my opinion, it was the best replacement that offered more "flare" than the OEM GT4 replacement, but was subtle enough to not be too loud or over the top. Some TechArt products are over the top and look "added" as an example. Below are some pictures showing what the diffuser looked like when it was released from Vorsteiner. I'll leave it to you to determine the differences and styling additions from the original diffuser.
I've searched high and low in threads, contacted Vorsteiner themselves to see if they could reproduce, sell the molds at a high cost or offer up a supplier they may have used. As many of these searches always end up, no dice. However, I'm VERY GOOD at finding sources, or just making the parts myself, there is now hope!
I believe I have found an overseas supplier that has reproduced this diffuser and has for a while, possibly even being a supplier at one point but that can't be proven. Based on some recent images sent to me, it appears to be exactly the same. I'm purposely not sharing those photos until I have one in my hand to confirm. I would also refinish it in matte carbon to match the rest of the car. But if true, MANY people have also wanted to purchase this diffuser and there might be an option. Before everyone knocks "overseas" supplier, keep in mind many companies like TechArt, TWL, Seibon,APR are all fiberglass added junk with a twill layer on top charged at high prices. I'm making sure this would be all carbon layers and no fiberglass.
What an impressive build and great thread!
Where do you track this car? It looks like it would be a fun ride when you can let it loose.
Ive taken it to the FIRM in North Florida a couple of times. But in reality I have been putting a lot of weekend miles around town but I actually just took it to Sebring to help out some friends at the 48 hours of Sebring.
Hello, it's me again. The 981 vorsteiner diffuser was discontinued long ago. Many people including myself thought it was the best option for a new diffuser with subtle added design cues and more "flare" without being gaudy.
After searching for a long time including contacting Vorsteiner themselves, no dice. But I wanted one, so I worked with my contact once again and we've now created what I wanted. This is in dry carbon but but you can see original pictures above. ☝️
Update on the diffuser: The part had to be remade after some failed infusions but I'm happy to report I have a finished product on its way to the states. Hoping it will be here in the next week or so. I will report back once I have it in hand and install it.
Meanwhile, the car is under the knife while I replace a few bits and upgrade the ducting to the radiators.
I also had crazy Eddie from Edguard put together a couple pieces for the interior. My daughter has enjoyed more rides around town with dad!
I reached out to my friend Betim Berisha at BBi Autosport. He made some prototype wind deflectors a while ago and I wanted a set. These were 3D titanium printed by a company called Additive Manufacturing. He only had one set left at home on his shelf. So I traded him a set of my prototype carbon mirrors for his prototype winglets. Thanks again Betim, a great friend and contact in the industry.
