I think I have FINALLY zeroed in on a lean running condition I have had since I bought the car. At some point the vacuum lines for the FPR and charcoal canister vent got switched (by me I am sure, while chasing other vacuum leaks). The port the FPR was plugged in to is actually before the throttle plate if I remember correctly. So it was never getting a signal to increase pressure. There was a bit of a knock this morning but no where near as bad as it has been. I'll check fuel pressure this weekend.
Driving to Chicago next week for the Lemons Route Sucky Suck rally.

This, because I could not find it anywhere else.

Last week I refurbished my tiptronic torque tube.

Thank you Clarks Garage for providing this sketch and instructions

So I procured 2 sets (8 pieces) of these Delrin inserts. 2 sets in case something goes wrong.

Then I pulled the shaft

Pulled the bearings.

Cleaned, sanded and sprayed the tube.

Procured new SKF energy effcient bearings https://docs.rs-online.com/1bff/0900766b80eb79d5.pdf

Pulled the old tt torque converter bearings as well and replaced the old ones with energy efficient bearings

New bearings installed

New bearings installed.

It's really amazing how easy and smooth the shaft turns now.

Got my 968 back from the Garage having had Full Geo, and the difference that has made is incredible..

Mechanic told me I was a little "out" at the Front, which would explain some Tramlining.. Took it out for an early morning run on Saturday, over to a place called Herne Bay [70 Miles or so away].. The A2 was empty of traffic so I could have a little fun.. Amazing how calm and collected the ride was at a considerably naughty speed..

Naughty speed is the right speed for these cars...

Having read through your blog for the work and the final costings (minus booze), it seems definitely worthwhile if you don't mind a) applying plenty of elbow grease and b) long periods of waiting/hanging around. Nice work, impressed and has me thinking now for my own red Sport...

Thanks It is defo worthwhile, not least because of the cost savings, as the I Did That Factor is COVID / Lockdown Depression busting..!!

There's a single SPG on Ebay at the moment.. £650 ONO, but they might take a lot less..? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RECARO-SP...c/174493424691

Thanks. Watching, no bids yet so who knows.

Been looking around for similar style seats and seems there are one or two lookilikees in Sparco's new less expensive range. After splashing out for a new garage lift this year I need to prioritise my 2021 budget!

I bought it. Then I drove it to go pick up pizza and had a lot of people doing double takes. They didn't know what they saw.
