Bin there, done that. To me everything 968 came in threes. 3 splitters, 3 belts, 3 tops. But I loved 'em anyway.
Yours is going well. Before final acceptance take to a self car wash near the highway. Direct spray at every joint, opening and corner. Do not dry before heading out on the road. At speed your final look for leaks both air and water.
Spanky: PM coming.

Awesome in Amethyst!!
from the Ferrari of Italy really are a bunch of assdouches thread from RLOT....
not surprised to hear this at all. but, i often find owners of P-cars to be very nice too. some are aloof. well, that's because Porsche's are go-to rides for very-busy people who might not be playing social (or gregarious) car enthusiast at a particular moment.
on my trip out to Chicago 2 weeks ago, i drove by a cars and coffee in progress in Toledo, Ohio on US rt20. i love getting off the interstate sometimes.... the place was packed with all sorts of hot rods, Vette's, euro stuff and ricer cars. ...everyone from every walk of car life was awesome, and super stoked to see a newcomer and learn about the 968 Sledgehammer going on another transcon drive (what does this make, 6?).
Holy God; 6 transcon trips from coast to coast with the v8 (ok, i'm still in Chicago, but i'm driving to LA next week). ....add (i think) 3 trips from Boston to Chicago and back, and 7 trips to Phoenix and back from LA... doesn't leave a drop of anything in the driveway. Just the normal 8k miles between oil changes. yes Jeff, Raj, Lart; this is turning out to be quite the GT car.

Hey Gretch, I hate to be contrary to you once again , but here's my experience as a nearly 40 year PCA member and nearly 30 year FCA member:
At every Ferrari Club event in which I've participated, and in each FCA Region in which I've been a member I've rarely found individuals to be anything other than nice, welcoming, genuine, accepting people. By "accepting" I mean the owner of an Enzo is just as friendly as the owner of a 308, and I don't see the Enzo owner looking down on the 308 owner (unlike some folks in PCA). Of course there is always an exception, but by far the Ferrari Club members I've know (and it's hundreds) rarely put on "airs", or act elite and aloof. Maybe it's because most have made it in life and have nothing to prove. Granted, my interactions with Ferrari owners is almost exclusively through FCA, but I can honestly recall only meeting one "insufferable douche". I have met far more Porsche owners who projected the attitude of "I'm better than you" based on the car they owned.

and therefore he will never have to wash it again. My black cab was like that. That's why it is now in OHIO. I just couldn't drive it anymore. Paranoia of the unknown. Sorta the same thing with the SY car. I need a nice driver. NOTE: Car not operator.

i complimented a guy on his BBS rims on 1980 928 at a red light up in Greenville TN last night. He was appreciative and asked me what i had. i got the look when i said 'half of your motor', then hesitated and said,' a 968.'
he chuckled as the light turned green.
(i was driving my "sport' appliance as the temps are in the death valley range this summer. when the cars temp gauge registers when you start the car, its hot)

Chuck, looking good. Did they do any "maintenance" to your top mechanism before installing the new top? Is your power mechanism still enabled? Mine always have been but I know some prefer the manual top.

Finally got the bolt down holders for my dial gages from Arnworx. The mag mounts were making me crazy trying to find a spot to lash down steel to magnet too. These little adapters from Arnworx worked with my mag mount dial gage posts (effectively 8mm thread) Verified everything and put the valve cover on. Hope to insert the engine in my wifes car soon now.

Did not do any maintenance o the top mechanism, is there a need to do something? It is still enabled and seems to work really well other then it's a lil noisy.
