987 cars do not have oil temp or pressure gauges. Even digital.

true that.

got a chance to deliver a nice one to a customer out to the Midwest for a local dealer from Southern NH.

fantastic car, but scant gauges.

odd.

Updated the interior with a new steering wheel. Got better leg clearance and the thinner rim makes handling the wheels a little less difficult. A neat byproduct is keeping to still use a Porsche wheel.

Yeah, I've seen that before. I'm afraid Clarkson pretty much hits it on the head - at about 3/4 the price, it would have been fairly competitive (although still not as fast as its competition). But that's what makes them so rare today.

So if I wanted to remove my rear seats I could get a carpet to cover it pretty nice then?

Touareg, are you sure there's not already good carpet under back seats? My cab has full carpet under the shelf, so I removed the shelf and shed quite a few pounds. Added seat belts from a 944 and now my 7 yr old daughter rides comfortably back there.

I might have missed the reference, but I have a coupe, no carpet under there but you do have it if you have the cubbies.

thanks !!!

I was assured by the fine folks at N. Hollywood Speedometer that something can be done to incorporate a 996~7 instrument panel into the car....

overall, if they decide it's this option that gets the cat f_cked... then, who am I to argue?

Clarkson has a prejudice with Porsches, and he came back at the end with an addendum that said the price he mentioned was too high and in fact the 968 was being sold for less. While the other cars were faster and cheaper, I don't thin they are as well made as the 968.
