One of the things I find attractive about this kit, if it achieves its design goals, is that it should be easy to restore the car to stock if desired, e.g. in order to sell it. And the kit could then be kept for the next car, or optionally sold separately, recouping at least some of the original money. Lots of options -- options are good in this game.

Really just some random musings as an excuse to bump a cool thread!

This is great and I will most likely order one.
Personally, I would take horsepower over AC everyday, so if it has to go, it has to go.

It will have.

Right now we are playing with mounting locations and drive options that allow the hood to close without modification to the car. This is a challenge.

Not bothered about the A/C either.
In fact ive just removed it from my car...
A weight saving of 21KG,s....+ from the front of the car....

Although i can see why you chaps need the AC in the USA....

Itd be good to have an option of either one kit for the AC cars + one,, maybee a "cheaper" alternative for the NON AC cars.....

I'd prefer the cheaper kit option for the AC cars, myself.

We found a home for the supercharger head unit now that allows us to retain the AC and most of the original configuration. One of the many challenges was the slope of the hood at the front, there were a number of failed SC mounting locations - they looked great, only to dicover upon testing that the hood would not close.

That is now resolved, and we are shifting from mock-up mounting brackets (rapidly changed and made) to more permanent prototypes to represent the new location. The idler pulley we need has been engineered and sent to manufacturing, and will be here in about 2 weeks.

Its moving along smothly, about as expected.

Carl, are your plans to drive the SC off of the crank (directly), or add the drive to the existing accessory drive?

just curious.

And thanks again for the effort!

At the moment, we are driving the supercharger off the crank with the existing crank pulley.

That saves $$ manufacturing a special crank pulley, and makes installation easier for all involved.

The plan is to supply a new serpentine belt to wrap around the accesories (AC and Alternator) and now the new SC head as well. The rpm ranges the accesories operate in will not be effected. They will run just as before.

Please consider this is the design of the moment.... we go through many iterations before we go to production on the last best solution, so it may change again. But this is the best (and pretty promising) location and drive belt arrangement that we have working at the moment.
