968 Supercharger Kit Development

The assembly is now finished ...
I start & drive the car but I have not had the opportunaty to fit the AFR control... so impossible to do full-throttle tests
So I've only tuned the FMU as safier as I could ... And I have now to put the car on a Dyno for final adjustment & testing...
Even if I don't go higher than 4000pm, It seems that the car is really fast ...

I have just driven my 1990 S2 with Carl’s Supercharger
Carl wasn’t quite right I drove the car for the first time yesterday very very pleased with the results. This has been quite a project. I have a modified 968 engine in a 1990 S2. First everything on the engine was just “plug & play” simple. But that’s where simple stopped I had to cut off the partition between the engine compartment and the filter area. This included the hood latch so I needed to install hood pins and build support platforms since there is no place to put the pins. Then the headlight bar and headlights had to be removed to fit the SC. But then the radiator had to move forward and lowered because the SC still wouldn’t fit, this also meant building clips to support the radiator and condenser. Right now the SC just touches the fan shroud. My first plan was to go from an air filter to Carl’s elbow, which included the fitting for blow off, then through the MAF into the SC. That didn’t work because the MAF was measuring the same intake air twice causing a very rich condition. I made a new straight piece with the blow off fitting so that would be after the MAF. That didn’t work either because of the turbulence at the MAF caused a rich condition again. Carl’s setup on the 968 with the elbow reduced the turbulence at the MAF. So I needed to design what looks like a restrictive air flow path to protect the MAF from turbulence. In order to fit everything in the filter area I had to cut the top part of the bottom of the filter area shelf. Then I needed to make new partitions to isolate the filter compartment. Also I needed to have K&N make me a custom filter.
Project still isn’t complete, I still need to install the new injectors, headlights and fine tune everything. BUT now have a big smile on my face as I know this car will be as fast as I had hoped for. Before anyone asks I don’t know anyone with a dyno so I can’t tell how much power it makes. If anyone knows of a dyno in southern CT please let me know.

So great to see these units getting into cars. I only wish I could afford the purchase now. Best wishes to Carl and to all who support this development!

Its gratifying to see the clean installations of our kit on this thread. Good work to all of you.
Butzi68CS - that install looks factory! Very clean and well done.
TF - I keep saying to everyone that asks if our kit will fit into a 944 "yes, but it is not for the faint of heart" . Hats off to you, Tom, for the perseverance to make it happen, and make it look good too.
Your call yesterday about how well it ran and how fun it was to drive was a delight. I really enjoyed the feedback.

TF - nice install. Given the fact that you removed headlights and such, I'm guessing that your car is a "track car"? I'll be interested in hearing your feedback on how the kit works when really being flogged on the track. I'm still considering this kit for my 92468? race car.
