Default KW suspension and torsion bar

If you fit KW v3 suspension, do you need to delete the torsion bar, or do you end up running both. Basic question, I apologise.

No you do not delete the torsion bar with the KWV3 but you will probably have to reindex it lower before installation.

So what is the process of determining height give there will now be coil overs which would normally dictate the ride hight?

The instructions are a poor translation from German but basically you want to reindex to about the height of a CS unless you already have a CS. From that point height is determined by adjusting the coilovers, you basically have about 30-40mm of adjustment front and back if memory serves me correctly.

I have the V3 don't know about the more recent ClubSport or 2 way race setups
some supension settings from the Uk

you'll generally find more info on the KWs over on the 968 UK forums (at least until Patrick chimes in over here ) You may have to go back to the 2006/7 stuff in the suspension forum to find it.

I installed a KW V3 on a 951. Great parts. Indexing the rear T-bars was not a problem. I set them at about where the 30mm t-bars would be and it worked out great. The goal is to have both springs share the load and set the ride height with the coilovers. PM me for more details.

Hi,
I am new to the 968 forum.
Mine is a base 968. Would it make sense that I do the KW V3 upgrade first, keeping brakes and 30mm/19mm sway bars for later stages?

Thanks.

I think so. I find the brakes perfectly suitable on my 968. Sway bars are easy enough to add whenever you are ready.

Agreed. My 968 Turbo still has the M030 brakes even though I upgraded to the KW V3, Charlie Arms and Kokelyn Sway Bars. My advice would be do the Charlie Arms first, then KW V3's, then Sway Bars.

Question

How do you know if the two will mate? If I get the KW V3 suspension for my 944 and I get Camber/Caster Plates from Ground Control and the top of the suspension and the plates are both 60mm, will they work?

Yes as long as you order the correct top hat they will work.

I have the top mount GC mounts and KW V3s. It does mean you have to assemble them on the car as you need to put the strut up through the tower and the mount before installing the top nut. You will discard the top hat from the KWs when you do this.

One thing to note, GC recommends trimming the hood on the 968 with these mounts. They don't mention it anywhere on the site but when you get the product, it's in the instructions (which I think is kind of lame).

I'm restoring my car right now so haven't fully installed the suspension but I haven't noticed any real issue that would require this but that may change when it's all back together. The issue is that the edge of the mount will interfere with the curve of the underlying hood skeleton (the part that normally curves around the factory mount).

James
