Default KW Variant 3 Question

I just got my KW Variant 3's in for the 968 (see picture) but was surprised by how they look. The first thing I noticed is they don't have the external reservoir. All the pictures I have seen of V3's show them with the external reservoir. I thought that was part of the reason people bought the V3's as they had this reservoir for extra damping. Can anyone tell me what's up? Do genuine V3's come without the reservoir?

Out of all the V3 kits posted that people have bought, I've never seen them with the reservoir.

Interesting, and yet on their website it clearly shows the V2's having no reservoir and the V3's with the reservoir.

What is the reservoir for then? I'm just wondering if I should have gotten Club Sports instead.

The resevoir is mainly to help keep the shock fluid cooler, not for extra dampening directly.

Remember that I am in Canada. I got them from HPA Motorsports in Vancouver. They had them drop shipped from the warehouse to my door. I was told these were the last 968 set left in the warehouse. I didn't ask about 951 sets. As for cost I paid $2900 including shipping/duties/GST/etc. That works out to roughly $2400 US for the coil overs themselves. I've seen them advertised for around $2300 in the US but I figured the extra $100 was reasonable to pay to get them from a local supplier - especially if I have problems with them and need to contact someone for service.

I see a bolt in the pics, but is it suitable for the application? I'm referring to the lower shock mounting bolt.

You received the correct ones. That res is for a different application. I love my V3's - you will not be disappointed.

Modded: These are for a 968 not a 951.

Should've made my question more clear. I'm referring to the rear assemblies.

Darwin,

The 968 comes stock with springs and shocks in the rear in addition to the torsion bars. I believe the mounts are different as well. That is what I meant by it's a 968 kit not a 951 kit. Or did you mean something else?

No, only M030 cars had the helper springs in the back .
