Magazine is now in the shops, in the UK. It's a good long article and great read, so fill your boots!

Excellent read and beautiful pictures in the article! The car just looks gorgeous You got yourself one amazing car James, congrats to both of you (RC) for this amazing success story. Can't believe you achieved those speeds and there is still so much in it. All of this while running safe boost levels and totally leak-free heads

Just a quick update:
The injectors we used were carried over from the donor engine. We were told they were 1000cc. They weren't...
1.6 bar, as it turns out... Explains why we couldn't get sensible idle, or fuel economy, or any sort of drivability off boost; and then it was still at 0.73 lambda...
So, we ripped them all out, changed the FPRs, and installed a FP gauge in the engine compartment for good measure - we had two FPR fail during this update, so belt and braces.
The injectors were changed for ID1000s.
I then had the car remapped at AET. We managed to get one of the top MoTeC guys to do the remap. He has managed to absolutely transform the car. I can now drive through C. London traffic with no stuttering or bunny hoping; it really drives like a 'normal' car.
The other upside is that now the fuelling is correct throughout the rev range, it can only be described as 'explosive'. Before, it would wind itself up to big speeds, but felt like a Jumbo taking off - steady prolonged +'ve second order wrt speed.
Now, it's like a cat dropped into hot water covered with paper cuts... Time warping acceleration.
We had some dramas with oil feeds to the turbos during the mapping. Cost me 3 turbo rebuilds until it was discovered that one oil line had a small blister on the inner rubber tube. This turned into a small flap that would flow oil fine at idle, but would close off under any load... So, all turbo oil lines replaced with special super high grade stuff...
Got some top speed events coming up so will post up more details as they come in; i'll also try and take some photos of the new fuel system.

James, congratulations on an outstanding project.
Of course, I have the article too and it entered my collection of 964 Turbo articles.
The article really drove home all of the planning, time (and $$$, or pounds in your case) that you have invested. This is yet another example about how a vision and unwavering commitment to these machines is ultimately rewarded.
Looking forward to your Buntingthorpe exploits. Maybe at some point you should consider running the Texas Mile. Good luck and be safe.

It's been a really fun (challenging) project. A total luxury on my part and completely unjustifiable to people who don't understand the joy and pain that come in equal measure when embarking on such things.
The difficulty now is being sensible and sorting out the creature comfort/driving manors that finish off the project; rather than slap on a new set of super turbos etc - I do want to change the cams though...
The servo assisted clutch is the last remaining job before I 'sign off' the project and consider the car finished.
The remap has shifted the power curve down a bit so max bhp is now at 7150 which is slightly suboptimal for Vmax given my gearing. So looking at either a set of 295/35/18s if they will fit (probably not) or changing the final drive to a custom item. A 6 speed box would be good but would require an almost total regear I suspect; and anyway I'd want stronger gears...
Part of me thinks spending the time focusing on 0-300kph times would be better as it would leave the car with better all round performance which can be used off track. But who knows... Texas isn't that far away

Three Wheelin'
Hi James,
how on earth have I missed this thread. What a fantastic and impressive project you that tackled, puts my project to shame!hehehe Certainly pain and tears for such an exercise.
Right now am taking note because I will be starting my 965 Turbo project, who knows I may constantly bug you for some advise and help.
Can't wait to see it in the flesh!
