Well, car didn't make it for Luft, tried but ran into a few issues getting interior fitted and a couple other bits, but, it's getting close Motor ready to go back in but I've ordered a Guard Diff that will go in it so have to wait for that as it's easier to set lash with it out of the car. Ordered a new windshield. Current has some delam and a small chip that annoys me. Figured out the seal for the wing, will modify one from a G body (964 opening is smaller). Front end back together with BBI uprights, new dampers, new spring rates, custom spring hats to allow for better clearance, and a few other tricks. Oh also doing ERP inner tie rods now, and a different outer. Mount for 997 Cup power steering pump done, block off on motor camshaft drive, all the piping removed, etc... Lot of little details.
Will be doing a little engine goodie I'll post more about at some point. But motor is a 5k mile recent rebuilt by Orbit racing with 993 S cams stock 3.6 pistons, etc. Car runs super strong, but will get a bit of custom tuning on it. With such a fresh motor I didn't want to (yet) drop the big $ to build this to a monster. But that and some tranny regear will be the next steps once I finish shoveling $ into this bottomless pit! :-)

Definitely one of my favorite build threads on RL. I’ve learned a lot from what you write/post. So i wanted to say thank you!
I was hoping to see the car at LUFT5, maybe next year?

Drain trans, Unbolt axles, remove flanges, remove trans side cover, remove diff, remove bearings/seals, replace bearings/seals, replace ring gear, install diff. The key here is setting what is called the lash, or the tooth spacing between the pinion and ring. This is done with shims. However, there is a tool mounted with a dial meter needed to do it right. Basically you measure the tooth spacing on the gears and shim the axles to adjust. It takes time and Not doing this step will lead to premature wear of the ring/pinion. This is much easier to do with the trans out of the car, can be done in.
If GT Gears chimes in they can correct me but this is the basics. Not hard to do the job, but right tool and method are important.
