One of the more bizzare ads I've seen:
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/5067739469.html
'90 cab, triple black (not sure what the third black is, but ok) 26K.

I guess we all remember it differently. Since they didn't have cabs in the 70's I would rule that out. What I recall, triple black meant black paint, interior and headliner. Porsche used white and other color headliners back then. Could be wrong but that was what I always believed it to mean.

you've got me thinking, you maybe right that it is the headliner, not the door trim. It has been 40+ years.....

This makes more sense then any of the previous explanations. I'm going with this. it's also what I have always believed it to mean.

I have some old pano's from the early 80's and there are many references to triple black stating headliner in black. I also see references to cabs the same way. Possible that it meant different things if it was a cab or coupe?

Cobalt, I agree with you. but....I think you are giving people that are trying to sell Porsches too much credit. You and I have been Porsches for a long time. I am amazed at the "For Sale" ads and how they describe the car for sale. Everything from calling a car a color that Porsche never produced, to calling a 1974 911 a flatnose turbo OEM. I can find descriptions wrong in more than 1/2 the ads.
I agree the headliners were a triple option in an ad and I appreciate you bringing that to my attention. But you have to agree that ads these days are nothing close to perfect.
