Enjoy the ride. I'm on Long Island and would love to see it sometime @cobalt .

Trust me I know how far these can be improved upon. My new engine will be a bit overkill with at least 450 whp and tq detuned. The prior engine was only putting down 330 whp and tq on a mustang. It has short gear 993 6 speed with steel synchros, forks and a guard 40/60 lsd which you can feel working. With the RSR body and suspension setup with MCS 3WR and full monoballs it is an experience very different than when I tracked a stockish C2 for nearly 10 years. I like low boost turbo systems they feel very much like an N/A car on track. Even the recently purchased Dan Jacobs club race build is a joy with the guard LSD short gears and only 250 whp and 260 tq and all the rest. Although IMO nothing like a wide body using the rear trailing arms of a narrow body as the ultimate setup.

The question is what will the market bare? The problem is thinking about values is just taking the joy out of owning these days.

BTW I am helping sell this beauty if anyone is interested in a fine machine these US spec cup cars are something special.

I have the factory 993 evo uprights with the 993 front logitudinals up front on my RSR build pushing out the front end 12.5mm per side. I don't run my cars lower than RS height on the street so I think they are bit overkill. I haven't seen the BBi units up close but looks like they did their homework. I needed to add electric power steering to it since the force needed to push push those 245's up front is getting to be too much for an old man like me.

Lightness does help. For me it is more of a track necessity than street. On the street by me at least the car gets thrown around a lot more when you drop as much weight as the CUP/RS. I would be more interested in a well built engine and a short geared box than a lightweight car for use unless you live with twisties in your back yard. If only.

Getting off topic but this is as low as I can go without slicing up some rubber on the RSR build. I would rather have the wider track than the lower car. Already removed as much weight up high as I can.

Happily some nice twisties and secret hill climbs abound so uprights on the list

It's scary when I have strangers follow me home. Million Dollar cars, Maybe someday. My son who's 14 is looking forward to owning my 964 turbo. Not sure I would sell it. I enjoy driving it and working on it to much. but $500k would be tempting.

I’m a fan of stock Porsche’s.. but there is something very special about a 911 that has been upgraded by a knowledgeable builder, just like what Cobalt did with his beautiful RSR build, that cannot be experienced in an all original 964. In 2018, I was lucky enough to get my hands on a C2 that was loved and tastefully upgraded by a proper Porsche head. I just felt that it was imperative to carry on the good work and bring it, within a loose level of reason, to the best state an atmospheric 964 engine can safely withstand (4.0L/405hp) in an eco system that brings the best out of that platform.
A hotrod, surely, but such an event to drive.

Well, I am drastically losing this HP discussion - but having owned some very fast cars in the past.....my soul is on fire every time I drive this unmodified 964. Now, that being said - another bank of power wouldn't be unwelcome!

I just wish it wasn't so cold already here in NY!

I think the cold is the best time to drive the 964. Feels like it picks up noticeable power with the cool, dense air. Love when fall and winter come. 😁

Plus the tires slide more, which is fun too…

Toying with the idea of selling mine.......

1990 C2 Targa - Forest Green over Silk grey/black full leather, factory LSD, 2 owner car, records since new, original window sticker. Really in great shape as some of you have seen....

Only considering selling because I think I'd prefer a coupe.

  • Full Detail – Exterior and interior with seats out
  • Targa top just had a Full Stage 4 restoration by Targa Dan/Cars Inc.
