It used to be a modified car like this would never sell. Today people gobble it up. It seems to be more of a sum of the parts these days on anything that isn't low mile pristine original. Although I have to question their pricing. What was actually done for a $44k engine and $28k 993 trans build?
I saw that $44k also. Would like to see that itemized. I have a hard time believing that was cost effective.

As always, who built is going to be the deal maker or breaker. If it's a Rothsport 3.8 and a Copan trans, you could make the case the car offers some value. If it was built in some guys garage with no docs, they're dreaming.

Worth noting, I bought a 993 with an "RS Spec Regeared Transmission" that was actually just a shorter R&P, which does nothing to solve the gear spacing issue in the 993 transmission. Want to take a guess what town I bought that trans from?

I have my toe in the market for one....probably will be next car I buy, and I've talked to few European based dealers on cars that seem interesting, and use my basic German language skills to try and follow along on ads.

Roughly, I'd say if you're sourcing out of Europe, an RS is 2x the price of a similar condition C2 holding everything else equal. If you want a car already in the US, add another 20%.

That black $125k car was built by a Rennlister who was pretty active not very long ago and he sold it. I can't remember his user name, I wonder how much work was done after that.

EDIT: Here it is... https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...-an-intro.html

Great find, I thought it looked familiar.

Confirms gear ratios in there, as well as quite a bit of bad luck. Didn't documentation of the engine build, however.

Doesn't this make the RS seem extremely under appreciated in terms of value?

I hope so!

I just purchased an all original (incl. paint), well documented 20K KM (12.5K miles) GP white 964 RS in Canada. Likely 2.5X the price of a comparable pristine 964 C2.

Thx! First air cooled I've ever owned and haven't driven a 964 in 25 years.

This will see a few thousand miles a year of both street and track use. Will have to bring a more modern super car along to the track though in the event the ego gets too bruised from giving point by's all session long in this thing - LOL.

Interesting read but the numbers just don't add up for the work done.

ended up going with PSS10s. they are being installed right now, with a few other odds and ends that needed replacing/updating. wheels are still waiting on parts to show up.

just for fun i went through the bills so far. engine rebuild was so major, i never really touched on all the work that was done. 23k in parts alone, actually more when you add in the fabspeed header muffler kit, intake and tune package. truly a brand new motor. oh, and the 6 heads i had to buy to replace my worn originals.
No mention of what was done and many discussions about ITB's but nothing noted as being done. I am not sure how you can spend that much on parts alone unless a lot more than what was done was discussed was involved. Looks like a straight build and shouldn't have come close tho what was claimed. The claim fabspeed exhaust made huge power gains is a joke. I see minimal gains on the systems I have tested although the gearing and tranny work isn't out of line assuming the cost of the 6 speed was included. The car seems to have spent more time on a flatbed than on the road.

Nice build but is it worth the asking?

kkabba Congrats on the purchase.

Congrats. That Kulu car looked absolutely pristine.
