I thought it might get to 50k too. The car needs a ton of work though even though the mileage isn't scary, dud wheels, needs a top end, carpets, suspension; you could be in it 65k very quickly. Then either it has been painted already or it is a 10 footer after commuting in CA. That dash! someone parked this outside all day for 20 years.

That seems high, no? I thought I overpaid for mine with 140K miles at $37K (C4 though). Deferred maintenance can get expensive quickly. I've put $11K so far into mine which includes: new tires/wheels, new master/slave clutch cylinders, fixing rust in trunk, new suspension, new brake lines, new interior pieces (shifter, gauge glass, MOMO steering wheel, etc...), fixing window switch and 8 way seats, replaced tail lights, filters, minor paint correction, and fluids. The only two things I've had a shop do so far has been the suspension ($5K installed for the Bilsteins and all new bushings) and the master/slave clutch cylinders.
So far it's gone from:

^^^ Nice car. So you are in it under $50k and know what it needs, probably very little, versus the BAT cat at the same price with all that yet to do.
I thought the premium color might help that car but it just goes to show; folks will pay a little more for a better car.

Iike this yellow a lot. Given the differences in cameras and screens, is fly yellow anything like Porsche's signal yellow?

I'd say it's a mix between racing and speed yellow. A little orange-ish like Speed under certain light, but a lot lighter in most conditions closer to racing yellow. Signal can be very orange-ish.

I love 964's, I would like the next car I add to my small collection to be a 964. But when I see that green car it makes me realize that maybe I just like modified 964's?? Haha, I don't know but some of the cars I've seen on this forum are beautiful. I sort of operate with the goal of buying a stock car and modifying it to my taste. That's what I did with my RS4, but if I had purchased a modified RS4, I bet it would have been better taken care of and cost me far less. I am interested in others opinions on this, would you buy a well modified 964 or prefer one that is factory?

Stock 964 is quite boring in my opinion. Of course i understand those who want totally original for collection purpose but if you want to have fun driving, some modification are almost imperative.

Cool to see the way the factory applied cosmoline.

So instead of slowly building a car, or dumping a ton of money and downtime at once, and being disappointed in its current performance and looks, I’ve been having an absolute blast driving the hell out of it from day one. And as I add the missing 10% (RS shifter/GR, brakes so far), it’s only gotten better.
But I also don’t look at it as an investment and give zero thought about preserving value or being worried about resale, because I’m keeping it and driving it until the wheels fall off.
I test drove a 997 recently because I wanted a fun daily, and thought they might compliment each other. I made the “mistake” of driving the 964 to the test drive. The 997 was so heavy, and numb, and boring compared to the 964 that I brought it back almost immediately. The hard plastic I kept hitting my elbows on also didn’t help. Point being a modified 964 is a ton of fun, even compared to modern cars, and whatever gets you there quickest is probably best.

Thoughts as to why this didn’t bring more money??? Was it simply the high(ish) mileage??
