Not sure whats' so bad about the white with martini stickers C4 on BAT rite now, there are paint meter readings, engine out service, its not hard to remove the stickers, fix the dash, new shifter, cup 1 style wheels and you have a beautiful GP white C4 (considering that mechanicals are all good)

Jeff i think What people say doesn't matter and doesn't "Maximize" anything, supply & demand do. I personally would want the cars to be cheaper because i buy and sell them and would invest less money in each car that way- but i don't get why it seems many here on the forums are just upset that their 964 has appreciated in value. I'm sure i don't need to add that the 964 is by far at least IMO the best all encompassing N/A aircooled 911 from looks to performance to comfort, it just took a while for it to be appreciated (not saying this to maximize price lol)

Supply and demand, I agree, drives the market...but what people say and do, does influence demand. That rough widebody that sold in the 80s a while back..had martini livery and great pictures = boosted that sale. Your reputation for documenting cars well definitely impacts the selling price. It’s definitely not just one thing but selling strategies (what people say) is part of it.

What you’re talking about it marketing. Plain and simple. Some people take advantage of deception marketing for a quick buck. Others, like Tim Holt for example, offer quality mostly unmolested cars in great shape and they are very transparent. Thus they charge a premium and usually get it because they are honest and have a good reputation in the Porsche community.
