Apparently targas aren’t so rare after all. Or at least don’t demand the premium some suggest they deserve.

What do you mean? A 100K mile car replaced with 993 interior getting $50K+ is strong money me thinks.

Targas aren’t rare? Tarek was originally asking 55 or 56 for this car, sold for $51,000 and a dealer bought it, $51,000 is the highest a targa has sold for on BaT, but Obviously we will see it back on the market being sold by Kaiser Kars

What do you guys think of this one? It’s been on BaT a few days and the bidding is still very low 91 blue C4

Did I miss something here? Who said Targa's demand a premium? BTW $51k for a targa without stock interior seems pretty solid......wait it is solid.

Thanks for proving my point about rarity. $51k isn’t high considering past sales for ANY 964, targa or otherwise.
$70k is the high-water mark. $80k and your getting into rare collectible status for narrow body 964s. Clearly you haven’t been paying attention and it just goes to show what I’ve said before that limited production numbers do not make something “rare”. Otherwise, this would have commanded a premium since there were very few manual targas made. Basing rarity on production numbers alone only works for cars built in very low numbers, ie Mclaren F1. Not run of the mill Porsche’s produced in the tens of thousands.

Again, either you haven’t been paying attention or your are clearly a bit....slow. Every single BAT auction I’ve ever watched only had the bidding get strong in the last few minutes. This one has what....five days left? 🙄

Look at some of the other junk that’s sold on BAT for well north of $50k and you will soon realize that is not at all “strong money”. I’d say the buyer got a good deal and the seller, who apparently was asking $56k, was trying to capitalize on the recent BAT syndrome with 964s and probably just broke even.

@Lorenzoh - Man, I'm down with some brutal honesty, I dish it out, too... but you kinda lash out, rudely, at anyone that has an opinion other than yours and then beat the horse to death. What's your MO?

Troll

As far as the rarity comment related to the Targa’s, they are rare as it relates to production numbers of 964’s. Whether that translates to higher value isn’t always the case, that depends on demand and clearly there is much more demand for coupes.

I was a little surprised the red Targa didn’t go higher to be honest, a 100k mile coupe in similar condition and color combo would have fetched high $60’s so the price delta seems to be increasing.

What does that even mean ??? As it relates to production numbers ? Yeah, I said that already and per the production numbers they are very limited yet this car sold for an average price.

On a different note - This just popped up on BAT....of course. Car has been RAGGED on. Great motor mods, but cosmetically it's a 2 out of 10 and the seller is a lying POS.

My thread about it after traveling across the country to buy it only to find it was not at all as represented by the seller, BRUCE ROBINSON.
