Is it common for spoilers to crack here?
This is the second time I've seen this on different cars. It happened on my buddy's car and here is one on fleabay with the same look. Is it because of a seized spoiler bearing or something? Do repairs hold up?

Me too, about half way between yours and the black mark on the cardboard (on the left). Supposedly due to not replacing the plastic air dam, which apparently helps stabilize the wing when up and stops it from being buffeted (bouncing around) & potentially fracturing. I'm not concerned with mine due to no 100++ MPH driving, and went ahead and recently did the #8 and #12 wire delete override in the control unit and now have manual control of the spoiler. "Only way to fly", for me.

In '05 or so my spoiler wing got that same stress crack. I tried to fix it, fill it, paint it - nothing worked.
A white spoiler wing became available, so I replaced it. A few years went by, and I noticed a stress crack starting to form at the corner, same spot. Look under the inside edge and you'll see what essentially is a stress concentration on that part.
That's when I noticed that my spoiler wing sucked in pretty tight into the spoiler deck when retracted. This was causing the wing to bottom out and get stressed out. Do you have scuff marks on the painted recess of the spoiler deck?
There's a screw adjustment where you can adjust the close limit to shut the motor off before it jams the wing into it's retracted position. I've adjusted my wing to close but not touch the deck - the stress crack has not grown since then.
That's my story and I'm sticking with it...............
edit: here's the link for my first cracked wing

I got lucky, mine is cracked in the middle so it "could" look like it was designed that way.
It's been like that since I bought it and hasn't grown over the past couple of years.

Wow. I had no idea this might be a contributor. Is there any truth to this?
