The 964RS engine in the back is only a temporary fixture as this 9m11RS-R is destined to have the most technologically advanced 911 aircooled engine package that has ever been built, however unlike the rest of the build the details of this engine are not something I can disclose on a public forum, such is the technology advance that we have conceived. Let's just say it will be worth waiting for.
The other good news is that it passed an MOT today and will now be driven to Oulton Park on trade plates as part of the shakedown day. Of course, the main reason for this decision is that the RS-R is so wide it will not fit on our trailer!

Look forward to seeing it tomorrow...let's hope the fog disappears by then!

Trouble is, now I need a 35mm, or maybe a 12-35, or ......? Slippery slope indeed.

I spent a couple of pleasant, if chilly, couple of hours today seeing this car up close and personal. Also had the pleasure of meeting and chatting to the owner of the build, Erik.
From what I saw it was a very successful first outing for the car. Erik looked very, very pleased with his new toy. As you can guess, the car is stunning in the flesh. Here's a couple of snaps and some video of it.

Colin/Erik, great work....the RSR looks stunning in its natural habitat. A possible nice touch would be to add some Racing Team Holland (Ben Pon, Gijs van Lennep etc.) decals, maybe even as race number roundels.

Just trim 2-3mm outside of the helmet's edge as an alternative Gulf logo...similar to seen here on prince Bernhard's BMW http://www.google.nl/search?q=racing...jGy9KGxyEMINM:

The day started out wet and cold, which on the face of it was not a good sign but in reality it was much more preferable to the fog and ice of the previous day.
First port of call on the journey was a fill up to the brim with Shell V-Power 98.

Signing on at 8:30, bacon sandwich and black coffee followed by the drivers briefing was the order of the day on arrival. Nobody was in a rush to get out on track due to the very slippery wet conditions, in the end we surcumbed to temptation at 10:00 ish. To be fair, if everyone had gone out early and just driven around at half speed we would have produced a dry line much earlier in the day but there were few brave takers.
A few laps later the RS-R ended up with a nice patina...

After an early lunch break (to provide a quiet half-hour for the start of a local hunt) more cars hit the track and a dry line soon developed. Time to explore the limits of G-force from those Toyo R888's - provided we can get them scrubbed and find some heat.
Mini Coopers provided little resistance.

The trackday was organised by Bookatrack, the format was open pitlane with around 60 cars registered for the day but rarely more than 20 on track at any time. We never had to queue to get out, so that took the pressure off the runs and allowed us plenty of time to check over the car in the pit garages. Erik and his son installed their mini camera system onto the screen for a couple of sessions, expect to see some footage from that later.

Marc and Richard checked the car over after the first session, venturing underneath to rectify a minor weep on one of the gearbox oil cooler fittings.
Lots of interested visitors dropped in to take a look, including 9m technicians Jack & Rob with some of their friends. The girls were highly impressed with Erik's helmet.....
