I've started a new thread, not sure how to point to it, it is called:

964 C4 backdate to 1973 Gulf 3.0 RS

I was going to call it

"Pauper's 964 C4 backdate to shagged old and rather incorrect 1973 Gulf 3.0 RS Racer look alike" but it didnt fit

Colin, it's been 1 year and 2 days since your last post. I started reading this thread a couple of days ago and now I've been stuck at an airport in Macedonia for the last 5 hours and come to the end of it!
What happened to the engine build info and the end of the story?

Great question Stuart, we've certainly not forgotten about it, that's for sure.

The engine development curve proved to be a difficult nut to crack as we have been mathematically designing a 3.82 engine that will be more accelerative and make more power than our previous 4.0 litre race engine but with vastly reduced internal stresses to increase the lifespan of the package to road engine standards. This problem space is made a lot more difficult due to the temperature and humidity the vehicle will have to cope with in the Malaysian climate, hence we also have to consider additional cooling (heat rejection) solutions to keep everything in check. So the answer is that the engine is coming, we expect the installation to happen sometime in the spring of 2014.

I'm sure everyone that had been following this will be interested to hear the rest of the story!

Does this mean the owner has an operational car or is it still a work in progress?

Yes, it's operational. We temporarily fitted a 300hp 964 engine on Motronic so that the owner could shake the car down whilst we still had the new engine in pieces.

Reviving an awesome thread, Ninemeister, do you happen to have the roof skin exactly like you have applied for order? Do you also have a part number?

I don't want to disturb the pillar points either, just replace my sunroof coupe to a non-sunroof skin.

Design911 sells only outer skin no.1 displayed below;

What an incredible build. I had a question regarding the fiberglass wing below - how did you mask it off to paint the satin-black "faux-rubber-lip" - did you just mask it by hand or make some sort of template? And what paint did you use? Was thinking black plastidip might work well here. Thanks!

The outer roof panel is only available from Porsche, part number 964.503.087.00GRV (~ £1150+VAT) for the 964 or 993.503.087.05GRV (~£900+VAT) for the 993. The 993 panel is made with wider window flanges to support the bonded in windscreen, so you can use a 993 roof skin on the 964 but not the other way round. You do have to buy the complete roof panel but you can easily trim off the scuttle and rear deck if your body shop only need to fit the centre section. I would suggest that you order from the OPC and get a Porsche Club discount on the price.
Hope this helps?

We left the textured finish on the panel and painted it with satin black 2 pack, then accurately masked it off by hand to paint the colour in the centre.
