Haha, not a clue. One thing's for sure, nothing's for certain.

I am not sure if grinding and reseating the valves qualifies as an engine build or addresses the early engine issues. I would consider it as a stock engine without rings.

The RSA has been in the seller's possession for quite a while. He purchased the radio from me many months back. I suspect that he has been fixing it up. Seems nice enough but so many of these were dedicated track cars you have to check closely.

Polar Silver non sunroof RSA. Advertising it with 1,840 (odometer reads 1,640) original miles, but not certain this is accurate. Interior has been redone. No price listed.

^^^ We know the interior, wheels, center caps, brakes at a min aren't stock so that diminishes the value even if it was low miles.

That interior is a travesty on such an otherwise mint collector . . . Reversible, but not particularly cheaply.

Edit - I think this is the same car: https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/a...america/604798

It’s the same car. Says it is the 34th example built (as did the other listing) and has the same red piping on the seats. The early RS America’s had rolled fenders as Porsche was afraid of the bigger wheels and tires rubbing against the body. By the end of 1992 they realized rolling the fenders was unnecessary as the bigger wheels and tires were not an issue to rubbing. Also there was a theory that the first 50 or so RS America’s had seam welding, but that has since been debunked.

Good example of how certain mods can impact the values a lot on an otherwise low mileage example like this...but not so much on a driver...some of them being preferred (although I'd say the interior on this one has to reduce the buyer pool to a large degree).

Fix that interior, put some porsche wheels on it and pretty much perfect

wow! I always read that 701 RSAs produced. According to the seller’s ad, that number is 768 produced.

🤦‍♂️

Tacky, tacky interior retrim.

does anyone have any thoughts on what is going on with this car?

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...ra-4-coupe-11/

the underside of the hood (and other places) look moldy? Rust on the screws on the dashboard? Lots of oil on the engine. At least it’s selling as No reserve but I can imagine it’s going to take a lot of $$ to clean this up nicely. Unless the new owner doesn’t care of course. Maybe it ends up as a singer

My guess is it's just a high humidity / moisture car that probably sat in non-climate controlled spots for extended periods of time without regular driving and cleaning. The undercarriage looks ridiculous, but could be a relatively normal leak that was just never addressed and never cleaned.

It clearly shows cowl rust in the front, so there may be some $$ damage, but it's hard to say it would necessarily require a ton of money to get it looking good again. $5k on a proper and thorough detail + dry ice would probably net this guy another $20k+ on sale. Granted, $5k is a bunch, but it makes a massive difference.

My new-to-me RSA was in climate controlled storage in the NE for a long time prior to my purchase, and it was cosmetically not a gem. Spider webs and all. I've now definitely spent upwards of $5k on dry ice + my own detailing, but the results are stellar, and it looks 20 years newer. Always amazed when folks don't properly detail a car before a BaT listing . . .

Ah, didn't catch that. Still a much cleaner car than the "Singer" clone at $135k.

That car has some sorting needed. A little cleaning on the sellers part would bring more no doubt. I have had some moldy cars before that had a lot of water in the interior but nothing remotely as bad as that car. I suspect it has been in more than a damp environment. The carpet is all saggy and the frunk is full of mold. I suspect the frunk carpet at a min was wet for a long time.

Nice RS NGT but clearly not original paint and hard to confirm miles.

This is a very pretty C2 in a great color and modest miles. The bidders certainly seem to like it.
