Cool

17 years of hot oil can take its told on rubber lines...

I use an air heating gun to heat the connections to make it easier to get them loose. Glad I did, those things were stuck! Got a nice bruise as a memento when one of them broke loose...

And you really need these wrenches to get to them. The normal craftman I had were too big to fit and turn... you will need a 32mm and a 36mm

No, I did not purposely break it... as I tried to pull it out it broke in different segments.

This is really making me consider replacing all oil hoses... the one that goes from the other end of the filter to the engine and the two that are at the front cooler...

Let me go back to the task at hand... I will remove a few things to make it easier putting/routing the new line in... more photos in the next break.

Got to love those "while you are in there" moments...

Even if I had changed those when I initially go the car, I am going to order and replace:

#21 - 964.207.241.04
#22 - 964.207.251.02
#26 - 964.207.217.00
#30 - 964.207.130.02

also

#54 - 964.207.252.14

I also need two new rubber support for the oil tank (bonded rubber buffer):

#3 - 999.703.324.00 and 999.703.246.00

So it looks like the car will stay on the lift a few more weeks...

Going to install the other little things I got for it... door catchers/arrester, clutch pin, etc.

I'm going through a "while you're in there" situation at the moment as well and have also decided to replace all the oil lines rather than just those that obviously need it but at least I have someone else doing the dirty job of fitting them all. I'm doing the reverse with the tin ware and salvaging all I can of that as it is seriously expensive no matter where you look for it

And Jamie, I thought the point of fitting the rear wing immediately was that it would force you to get it painted rather than leave it. What happened with that theory or are you simply waiting until you complete these current tasks?

I have almost a page long of all you quotes amigo!

I was not thinking of removing the oil tank. I was able to route the line wihtout having to remove it... now you got me thinking about it... it could use a nice clean on the outside... hummm.... we will see...

You mentioned that I had received my rubbers the other day, ... well, here is another use for old rubbers, broken rubbers, or whatever... ribbed for your pleasure,

Another use for your broken rubber gloves....

Well... it was not such an eye sore to everyone as I thought...

Seriously, along the way I decided to go with a dual exhaust setup. That required a different bumper corner (that arrived). So now I will take out the rear bumper, wing, side sills and front bumper, and send those out to paint. I was going to paint them myself but I would like to use the car before the year is over

Cool

A few more photos... this guy looks dirty as @$%^...

turns out that the little aluminum seal from the plug you remove, when chaging the oil filter, was pitted. Here, take a look:

The oil it dripped, with the wind in there, made that mess... nothing else to do but to remove the whole thing for cleaning (and yes, I am not proud of that view... dirt all over... I would like to use the excuse that I at least use my car and is no garage queen, but that is no excuse for letting the car get so dirty ) :

from this side it does not look that bad...

Let's turn it around... The side you could not see...

Looks a little bit better now:

^ what Ilk said.

(-- pics had me reflexively reaching for Simple Green and paper towels. Rewarding to clean off k's of miles of oily gunk, while back-filling along the way w/ righteous hardware.)

PITA is changing the clutch in my old 951... or changing the evaporator in this car... changing these oil lines is easy, just a bit messy
