Arrow Hood Louver Wind tunnel simulation

Taped ribbon and inserted into louvers, simulated wind speed up to 100 mph, at 25 mph ribbon started popping out, by 50 mph most out, 80 mph all out, 100 mph really moving around and lost a couple ribbons.

Ribbon insertion was varied between 2-5 inches.

Back in the garage with engine fans running hot air can be felt exiting the louvers.

IMHO this location (15-16 pressure zone) does extract heat, other locations toward the front of the hood will work also.

Clearly the louvers should be in the middle of the sunroof area….

Point 27 is actually in the sheet metal just in front of the sun roof!

But yes, I get what you are saying.. I have studied this chart to the ends of the earth in preparation for my own louver experiment!

I think the effectiveness of these vents is more about the directional type vents they are than high or low pressure thats on the bonnet .. think with those style vents you could put them almost anywhere on the bonnet and they would still be effective i i did mine up the the other way to they are flush from the outside ..

Hard to believe it was 4 years ago that you had that done!

I can't seem to find the name of the shop where you had that done. Would you mind sending it to me again?

Thanks

AIR splitter which also takes the place of the batwing and the 2 other stock belly pans are in place.

You have to take into account the boundary layer effect – small louvers will not do a very good job as ‘extractors’ solely based on air flow over the surface. If you out the louvers in a high pressure area I would believe that the pressure differential will be greater than the venturi forces…

Based on that comment Chris, do you concur on the placement of the vents? Do you think that addional extraction or another method to be preferable?
