The results of this will be very interesting. What is almost of equal interest is the lack of interest on this forum for 16v 3L turbos anymore.
How times have changed....

I don't think it's a lack of interest as much as a lack of understanding and the cost involved. I started a thread on a 2.5, 4 valve head and a lot of the same issues are there.

Sean,
great progress
Hope i can finish my 16V turbo project in the near future. Got almost all necessary parts in my garage. Just now too much work with my son's 951 project car and my customers Porsches
Patrick,
most of us still watch these 16V build ups with great interest

question; how much power can you get out of a 3.0 turbo if you build it for racing only, solid cams, dry sumped. is 600 realistic or crazy? Why am I asking? Because I'm building a 400hp NA but just ran into another bodyshell and I might just build one more......

600 has been done in race cars, e.g. Milledge builds.

The amount of interest is big, but it is shared by too few people, its too expensive to attract the masses. This is after all a cheap sportscar, to buy, that is...

Bob Norwoods DoomII car had 3.0 16v engine that produced around 900 hp if I'm not mistaken. Race-car, blew the doors off on competition.

Ha, at least I can depend on our ROW friends

Olli, your posts are always enjoyable and we wait for your 16v to be finished with baited breath. Should be very nice.

Henk, it's very much dependent on how much you want to spend. You could achieve 600hp pretty easily and get into the 700s or even 800s if you wanted to go the extra mile$!!

Raceboy, Doom didn't have any doors to blow off, but it did go fast enough to get banned and stolen.

We got the engine installed today, just gad to do a few modifications to the inlet manifold and a few other bits and pieces. tomorrow i will fab up some intercooler pipes and get the rest of the parts in there. it may even start tomorrow, or maybe thursday

Of course it itself didn't have any doors but the competition had.

I happen to know where that engine ended up, and is now only good to be used as a paper weight or art deco table!

It's not just the ROW folks, there are several of us supporters of things higher performance in CONUS, but like everything else, $$ and time are finite, and some of us have bigger fish to fry than big motors.. like the motors we are mired down putting together...

Looks like it is coming together nicely. I will be very curious of your impression of the combination in comparison to a well sorted 2.5-8v.

I can't remember, did you decide to get out of the s2 r&p or ???

Are those 968 intake runners going to a S2 head? I wasn't sure if they lined up correctly or not.

The block may be art deco now, but the head assembly and crank are still part of a running engine.
