Just received my Mahle motorsports pistons these are 104.5mm alusil bore units made for 8 valve head I will cc these and figure out compression does anyone have cc of a once decked 2.7 head?? and I was suprised by how much material has been removed from the design over the years to make lighter.

Also the 2 coatings used for them its interesting is the dark the new iron coating? the skirt coating was also put around the top comp ring land. If anyone is intersted in these I know where another set is. Thanks for the help guys

I cc'd my 2.7 head at 59mm, though can't tell you with confidence how much had been skimmed off at the time.

Skirt coating is called ferroprint (iron coating with synthetic bonding), dark gray is phosphate coating. Piston design is mahle powerpak.

I had the same pistons in 101mm version. Engine jewelry.

I have 2.7 head that was never decked I could measure over the weekend if you want. I also have a set of JME head studs for 8v 3.0 engine FS if you need them.

Voith, could you CC the chamber of the non-cut 2.7 head?

Default #30

Just in case someone is truly keeping score, #30 (Miles' PH 3.0) engine now lives in my garage and will soon be bolted into my long term project...
It had a full teardown and refresh by Autosport Florida that included a turbo rebuild.

I know you went to the trouble of machining them already, but do you think those 8v pistons would have worked OK under a 16v head, regarding the dish shape?

I'd think that the "quench pad" on the piston would line up pretty well with the flat on the exhaust side of the 16v head but then the other side (intake) would be totally open...though maybe that could have an interesting effect of cooling the exhaust side of the cylinder
