Is it the same color as this? Vesuvio Gray metallic? I was thinking of getting a 996 in this color, depending on the light it was gray or purple! I have not seen one in person but was sold on it after a little research.

Viola is different. It was the jubilee special edition paint in 1993 for the 911.

Making a little headway...wife saw the car on an overcast day and wondered where the black car came from...that's what I like about Viola.

Vesuvio Gray metallic on the 996, google it, it is pretty sweet and a rare color. Viola on the 993.

Gene, curious, why are all the windows taped and masked, is there a reason not to get paint on the inside of the shell? I assume the whole car was stripped.

What did you do for the rear hatch restoration, just paint the black trim, and tint?

Also, what do you plan to do for the interior, replica parts, OEM, and of course the big question, the dash? Since the always crack...

Going to look really nice Gene.

What color interior - classic grey perhaps?

Installing new carpet? If so, have you identified the source?

The car was soda blasted which did not harm the rust inhibitor coating Porsche applied to the bodies.
The interior was completely stripped of the 1/2" of German carpet glue, wires, components, etc.
The interior was then sprayed with Lizard Skin and covered with single stage black paint (in areas where it will be covered when the car is completed). We taped the car off to avoid overspray ing the interior. My painter had an issue with spraying the car Viola inside at $510 a gallon.
The Lizard Skin worked great to take the sheet metal sound out of the doors and sunroof delete panel.
The rear hatch had a vinyl mask applied around the edge. The local window tint company had a sign guy they knew drop by and do it in 15 minutes.
Pictures attached of the hardback GT Sport seats (with Porsche crests) that will go in the car. Their color and material will drive the rest of the interior choices (dash, door cards, carpet). I am thinking about having my 930S steering wheel recovered as well, maybe with an accent stitch.
Also attached are pics of the inside, the nearly completed power plant, and calipers.

Looks nice!

Are you planing for a recovered dash? So far I have not been impressed what I have seen around the web.

Are you doing your own engine build? Is that a 16v 3.0l or something else?

16v variocam, 3.0L rebuild by Albert Broadfoot.
I've got a donor dash and door cards ready to go. I'm considering Classic 9. Any ideas?
