Looks like a beaut! Let us know how it goes. JE pistons in Alusil always sparks discussion, so it will be nice to have your real world input when you start driving it. When's it going in?

Very nice -- what kind of turbo and engine management will you use?

Lindsey Racing super 75 with T4 hot housing. LR chips and Mafterburner and an inovate wide band O2 sensor.

For those on the "running" list -- how many of you are stil on the road -- and/or have had significant set backs taking you off the road for an extended period?

Also, if any of you have dyno's charts, I think it would be interesting to see how the various configurations look on the dyno -- so post em up here!

Drove mine to work today, just as I have the last several months.
As of now, the only long term down time was when I pulled the turbo to fix an oil leak. Then is just got too hot in the garage to work on it, so it sat for most of last summer.
I think I have a bad head gasket (possibly a warped head) due to the water pump hose popping off at full temp, when the engine was first started. It's only a problem when making higher boost and looses no coolant when driven "normal". The head is coming off this fall to see what's going on.

Mine is doing great. It has clocked 12k miles since start up one year ago.
At some point I thought the headgasket was giving up the ghost as white smoke was coming out the exhaust when idling, but coolant consumption is nil and since I reduced the boost from 17psi to 15psi I don't get any sort of smoke anymore. I will probably pull the head in Fall to check the HG and install "steam vents". I don't feel like risking blowing the HG for good on a dyno before upgrading the IC (too much heat soak on the stock unit).
It regularly sees 150+mph on the nearest derestricted Autobahn. Hardly drinks any oil. About to switch to E85. For those who care it's been doing 24 mpg overall. Road car only.
It could be made much faster but the engine is already almost too much for the chassis and the stock brakes (and the driver!) so I take it easy. Very pleased with my "baby"!

I was driving mine around at 20+psi last year (on 100 octane), but more recently it creates overflow if I go much past 15psi. I've changed the gasket a few times (widefire with o-ringed block and raceware studs), and had the head skimmed, but it doesn't seem to help. So now I've backed off on the timing, added a higher pressure cap, increased head stud torque, and went to colder plugs (WR5DC). So far it's all holding fine, but I haven't gone over 15psi yet. If it still spits up at higher boost, I may look to modifying the gasket and doing the Evans and/or steam vent thing (and/or water injection, knock meter....). As you say, even at 15psi, the car has more HP than the all-stock chassis can make good use of...

Here's a new HG option for the 3 liter block crowd. Haven't tried, no affiliation, but good to see something new...

It'll end up getting another wide fire gasket.

Can I take a survey here -- for those with running motors, what cylinder head studs are you using? I am debating going back to factory studs, so curious to hear what others are using and if you've had any issues. Thanks.
