Wow what a list of mods! Your as crazy as me. When I bought the car that became the 3.2 now owned by A.anon I drove it for 2 weeks, took it off the road because I wasn't sure about the belts/rollers, booked it into a garage for a 2.8ltr long stroke conversion, discovered I had a scored bore and many troubles/years later finally got it back on the road 5years from when I bought it having spent the equivalent of nearly $50 without ever having driven the car for more than 500miles.
Anyway reason I asked whether it was rich fuelling is that after my car was finished we spent 6 months trying to figure out why it wouldn't fuel right. Replaced the entire ECU, wiring loom, every sensor before finally realising it was because the MAF sensor was too close to the turbo and the new (massive) turbo was getting warm, spinning at idle and causing a vortex inside the intake which confused the MAF unit. Put the maf further away, round the front of the header tank so there was a bend in between and Ta Da the car suddenly ran as smooth as silk. You can imagine the swearing that occurred but lesson learnt
p.s. Tom whilst your updating records the A.anon car has finally been back to the dyno and confirmed what my backside always told me. 420hp and 495lb/ft torque at what the new owner described as low boost I assume means somewhere about the 1 bar mark.

sounds like my case....except i looked at the maf meter just cause u mentioned it and its far enough away from the turbo, with a bend too. im hoping its the injector harness though. hope to find out next week.

I am just finishing my 3.0 944 turbo, I am using it for road use and maybe the odd track day, I have a dual wastegate fitted and am looking now for the right turbo spec, being that this is the 3.0 page can anyone give me any idea on trim etc?

I'm guessing that's "dual" port wast gate ??? there are heaps of wich turbo threads and this could go on for ages .
the most strait forward thing to put in there is a K27/8 a k27/10 is better but a k27/8 can be had cheap and bolts strait in.
these look good but it was never clear if the oil drain will bolt up i would imagine at worse you would be making a little adapter but there are some little of sett adapters available

there are lot of over priced vendor turbos on here with crafty names no wheel spec no maps witch i assume are made from obsolete to4e to4 b parts and as no one has stepped up to say otherwise i will continue to assume that .. so be caful..
setting up for a garret makes life easier GT3582/ .82 seems to be the common choice for the big turbo
and gt3076 or 3071 are an option as well

Hi Dom, there are a few places in the UK that have built big bore 944T engines. I had my 3.2L built at www.jmgarage.com , Markus had his 3.0L built at http://www.northway.co.uk and very recently http://www.hartech.org.uk/ has started building bigger bore engines. Hartech are currently working on a 16v version with variocam and have just been featured in this months 911 & Porsche World magazine.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will contact them. Annoying thing is I have already spent big money, I did have a 2.5 (forged piston) engine built by Promax and it has only lasted 2000 miles!! Anyway you live and learn, promax seem to be more into "Vauxhaul's" these days!! Where did you source the ball race turbo and is there still lag? Im running is a speedforce racing stage 2 turbo which is sooo laggy that I am considering swapping it for a smaller one. Usless on the corners but fun when it finally gets going.

What went wrong with your motor after only 2000 miles? Surely if it wasn't something you did wrong Promax would back that up with some sort of warranty? By Vauxhauls I imagine you mean Holden Monaros? Or for our US friends, Pontiac GTOs. Designed and built in Australia.
I'm sure you should be able to repair your motor, but the extra capacity of a 3L + is something to be experienced.

Long story, basically I sourced the forged (new) JE pistons/rings seperatley via a knowlegable trade supplier (Goznays) who also rebored it to suit the pistons. It smoked and breathed from day one after Promax built it, they said it was "normal for a race engine" - hmmm. It eventually smoked so badly on its second trackday that the marshals pulled me off. Promax had it back and camera'd the bores and have reported bore damage (I suspect from running low on oil). Promax blame the parts, the parts supplier blames Promax...Blah blah. end of the day I am £6k poorer with no car! anyway it will rise from the ashes, hopefully with a 3.0L motor

I'd be interested to know that as well. On the other hand, if it ran but smoked from the first fire-up, you have to wonder if the piston to wall clearance or rings were wrong in some way. Otherwise, you'd think it would at least start up and idle without galling the cylinders. If there is an interest in assigning blame, the broken motor may contain the smoking gun...
