You can also get ahold of chemical processing companies. ie: safety clean and others. They have nice little 15 and 30 gallon plastic containers. Just buddy up to a driver and he will probably hook you up.

Printing companies utilize them regularly so maybe you can get info through them locally.
I have a few good plastic containers that we sotre emergency gas in, It's only been a few months so I don't think the fuel will be bad.

This E85 is snowballing and people are starting to ask the same questions. (no disrespect intended). Search under user name 'blown 944', E85, or just read this thread. I think this should almost be made a sticky?

I have converted to E85 and i must have blown the headgasket but there´s no sign of it on the gasket.

My head must have lifted just a little.

My plugs and valves are all white but maybe thats how it should look with E85?

Yea it'll start cleaning the interior of the engine

It looks like that gasket may have been ready to go by the looks of the discoloration.

What boost were you running and what were the AFR's??

That's a little lean but not enough generally to push a HG. Like I said I think the HG was pretty bad anyway. Any pics of it??

What made you think you blew a headgasket?
A/F should be in mid 11's. But.. I'm sure it will hold for a while now. My gasket blew with the typical hot spot on number 4. Doing some cooing tricks to try and stop it. I'm convinced it's the cooling /lack of issue thats causing it.

too much pressure in the cooling system and the cooling water smelled exhausts and there where black particles in the water, my new expansion tank are not so white anymore

Hm every one i spoked with told me that i should be around 12-12:5 for best performance with E85?

Don't ask their advice on E-85 anymore. Harsh, I know.. But yes, it can be ran at that. but if you want your motor to last, just go to a safer A/R like 11.5-11.8 - or a .79-.8 Lambda.

And it does sound like a head gasket. probably a warped head though. Did you look for cracked sleeves?

couldn´t find any cracked sleeves, but i could be wrong, let´s hope not.

i think it was the higher cylinder pressure together with a bad decked head last time and to little nm on the headbolts that did it.

I have a quick quistion, and I can't find it in search.

For a school project I with a buddy are converting a 944 turbo engine to E85.
Using a DTA S60 PRO. The engine is totally stock. I know if I want to run on E85 it isn't a problem for the head and valves. But he and the project leader, are saying the valves and the valve seats and valve guides will not withstand the heat, and that the E85 will effect the metal. Does anyone have some hard facts to oppose these idea's.

Etienne
