E-85 MEGA THREAD

Yes I was wondering how it reads the octane and how reliable the sensor actually is? Sid is pretty convinced that there is a decent margin for error with E85 so that is good. I put about 30% E85 in a tank then filled with 98oct pump (Aussie) and immediately the afrs went lean. I figured that it went lean because at that point I hadn't increased the fuel. So with the SMT6 you can just go in and change cells and richen it up where you want. Pretty cool. To be honest I didn't really notice the difference, but I was only running 20psi. I believe that you probably have to push over +/- 24psi to really notice the difference.
yes that is why it was leaner.
No you won't notice much of a difference (especially at 30%) if you are able to run that much boost with pump (that is the question). You would only notice if you worked the timing
At low levels it will only act as a detonation defense.
Again, all the talk of worrying about mixtures will most likely be over once the product comes online more. Everyone will most likely be running E85 99.99% of the time anyway.
Until then you will just really need to have a decent idea of where your AFR's are fro fuel and for E85 and adjust accordingly.
It's pretty simple really. Maybe I am just fortunate b/c I can fill so easy and that is why I don't worry.
I still have to say once again that it really is not that hard to adjust between the 2 fuels . I have done it so many times its funny and I had to get out and change fuel pressure. Now if I were to use std fuel I would just lower my total map slightly (3 clicks of a button really).
Will someone else other than myself,Rogue,Bruce,Stephen,Jonathan,Corleone,Vic,5 others that I will not name,...just convert and actually run on it for a time so all this can stop ...PLEASE?
To me it is like if everyone were on here overly worried about changing between pump and race fuel and little gadgets were trying to be introduced to get piece of mind
I digress................................................................. ........................................................................ ................

Lol, Sid you have become the E85 spokesmen... I'm sorry I haven't been around as much to confirm what you have been trying to inform everyone of.
Well I should be back state-side in a few days. And I will continue to run E85 as my primary fuel, as I have been for the last couple years...
December everyone should see some good updates from me. And hopefully a plug-n-play solution for my MAP setup, along with simple E85 compatibility. Hell, maybe we should just put together a wiki for E85 usage on the 951 so people will have an online resource for converting. (should lessen the debating and repetition)

Joshua, I am very much looking forward to it. Get ahold of me when back in town.
OT if you are in town this weekend I will actually be in the spgs cornering my Brother in law at the MMA fights Friday night.

Sid,
I won't be back to CO until the ~20th or so. I will definately get in touch. Got some catching up to do when I get back. Hopefully the weather is decent...

You guys in America have luck.
E85 here costs €0.95 per liter, thats €3.80 a gallon (US$4.70 per gallon).
But that is still cheaper than 100(105 for you Americans) octane benzin here (€1.42 per liter), from Shell V-power racing.
since E85 gives 100-105 (105-110 RON), it does sound better......
However, benzin prices go up and down literally daily, depends on the stock markets, the US dollar and the Euro. E85 has been dead flat at €0.95 since July.
I just hope my info here is right, somewhat....
There are 2 stations near me here in Passau that have E85, it is also known here as Biobenzin.
keep this thread going, my car will be here by next Summer or Winter....you never know if things get cheaper (to be able to run E85) or not....

Sorry for the double post....
Just checked on a German website for E85 stations near me...
Freaking hell, there is an E85 station 5.2kms (3.2) miles from my house (9 minutes)....damn....E85 is getting very tempting to use now...

I have been ready to run e-85 for a year, unfortunately I had so many problems with the car I haven't been able to. I already have 20 gals of it in my garage waiting for me to finish working on the car...
