DAMN Pete, that really sucks!!! What the hell happened? Looks like you hit a tree into your door, but there's signs of impact at the front left and rear right. I hope you're ok at that's a pretty good whack to your drivers door.
Hopefully the motor's still ok and the rest of the good stuff.
I'm really sorry for you and your car.

OMG, I just read this whole post from the beginning thinking "wow, this guy has really put a lot of time and effort in building a beautiful car". Then I hit that picture. I feel for you man.
But... every cloud has a silver lining. Now you know what you're doing, and are able to do things right the on the first try! Don't let it keep you down man!

Pete, I'm sorry about the car. But I'm very glad you are fine! You will be in something else, nicer and faster in no time.

This is tragic Pete … I’m really sorry for your car but very happy that you walked away OK!
A 60mph crash is serious by any standards and the fact that the driver’s side door took a fare amount of the impact we are all thankful that your OK mate - Thats whats important
I guess the up side is that you have a nice parts car ready for a new shell and that all the expensive goodies you have invested in for the car look as if they have not been damaged.
P.S. If there is any damage to our GTS kit then let me know and we will send you replacement parts for free mate.
All the best,
Mark

Thanks for the condolences, guys! It's good to have friends that care.
So, what happened was that rear wheels aquaplaned while I was changing lane from onramp to highway. There were inch deep ( tire ) grooves on the road ( which I didn't notice while observing traffic on highway ) full of water. Car spinned immediately right, so I skid sideways out of the road to the wet grass and into the trees..6"+ thick ones, hitting the left side and rear. Fortunately spinning continued so that most of the deceleration happened when car was moving rearwards and the airbags didn't even deploy. I must say that those seats -not to mention the chassis- are very durable, no signs of cracks anywhere. Rear hatch glass exploded rearwards, but I got all the glass from the door on me. Still the only thing that had wounds was my G-1 leather jacket. Engine was still running ( clutch and brakes were fully pressed ) when the car stopped and neither oil nor coolant leaked. All things from the glove box were on the left back seat...
All ( or almost all ) expensive parts were undamaged. Most likely the engine with all associated parts, drivetrain, suspension and brakes will be transferred to a race car ( which is not mine ). Interior will be sold separately. This leads to the insurance...I was treated well and documentation of my project helped me to get a reasonable deal.
Mark, GTS lights are OK, but thanks for that kind offer! If you want to use my car's pictures ( the intact ones ) in your pages, please PM me.
I'm looking for a new project, which will be a water cooled, but rear engined one...
