What about the Kumho ku36? They seem to be quite good and pretty cheap. I was considering them as my non-track(dry) and wet-track tyres.

I'm not. I have no need for a R spec tire. This is strictly a road car, though I would look seriously at Yoko's if I were.

That must be an OZ model. I don't seem to see them here in the States.

Anyone running the Generals? They are made by Continental, as conti owns General, and they've gotten nice reviews. I'd love to hear from some of you guys who may have run them.
Every set of Conti's I have ever owned gets too loud too quickly! Will not buy them ever again.

I have had the Toyo T1R's on my car for two seasons and I am very happy with them. I have done about 3 track days with them and the wear is excellent, grip is great and feel is great.

I know this is probably not the right post for this question, but indirectly related. Has anybody tried to mount a 225/45 ZR16 on the front OEM Turbo S rim? The size difference is very small, but wondering if this will screw up the front to rear geometry. If it is not a problem, then there is a very good deal on the Nexen N3000 tires from Onlinetire.com. These are nice ZR rated tires (340 AA A) for the price. The rears are correct at 245/45 ZR16, but they don't have a 50 series for the front. All four for $335.00 shipped is a good deal on these tires. You have to pay tax in CA though. It says that they are both W & Y speed rated. I have no experience with this tire, but specs look good for the price. I am sick of the rediculous road noise from my Bridgestones even though they are nearly new. I hate them and want to get them off soon.

That was funny.

Tom, what did you decide? I'm running Falken Azenis RT-615 on my car. Drove them on a friends car first, liked them, and purchased a set for my 951.

Link to a good write-up. They used these on a Z project with results as good as the replaced GForce KD's. I have always liked BFG tires. Use them for my SUV in the AT series currently, and have KD's on my sedan.

I have not noticed much in the way of noise, but my 951 isn't very quiet anyway. On most road trips with the 951, I've got the stereo on loud enough to just hear the music.

George, I had the azeni 615 on my BMW talk about noise! Great grip but the noise was horrific. What do people think of the bridgestone RE-11?

I had the Nexxens; DON"T BUY THEM!!!

I bought the Dunlop Star Specs and they are GREAT! Comfortable with great grip. I autocrossed them 2 weeks ago and they were great on the drive there, and even better on the course. Can't beat them for the price.

For the street, I'm another direzza sport Z1 fan, have been doing a lot of wet weather freeway and back country road kms over the last few months. Great combination with the escort passport down here.

Too late, but curious why you said to not buy them. I have all four of them mounted now and I think they are great, especially for $350.00 delivered! They have plenty of grip, ride much softer than the Bridgestones and most of all they are quiet!!! What was your issue with them?

Some pictures of the N3000's installed are posted below. Many reviews on the net were all positive. Specifications are outstanding, not sure what is not to like.

Sadly this is also becoming true of 17" tires also. Within a year we will only have a choice in the 18" and larger sizes. I understand the 18" is now the most popular size sold, with the 19" gaining and the 17" losing in popularity. I have a good set of 17' Fikse that I may have to switch to. I just like the old phonedials. They just seem to fit the image of the car better for me. Plain and simple but more fitting for the vintage. I do like many of the new wheels and will most likely go with the 17" tires. The same debate exists in the 17" market though. Little options available if you want anything other than the stock 87 tires. If you are looking to get a little more rubber and keep the same or close overall height, the option are getting slim. Change the height and you throw off the speedo and decreases the torque and power at the same speed. Modified cars may not be an issue but stock you feel it.

Eric -- Did you catch this thread on the ku36? Looks like you noticed the local prices on the ku36 as well...

After 11 fine years with the Fuzions, I'm ready for new tires. I'm thinking RE-11's? My priorities haven't changed much since my first 2006 post in this thread... Looking for 225/50/16 and 245/45/16's.... Open to all suggestions.
