Be careful of Tire Rack though. I got mine from them, and the fronts they sent me were Mercedes spec tires ("MO" on the sidewall) not Porsche spec (cant remember what my tire shop said the Porsche spec "Letters" would be). When I replace this set, you can be certain I will have a discussion with the Tire Rack salesperson before I order.
Sorry, but they don't come in a 245/45-16 unless it's the Michelin Pilot sport cup which are for track only and around $1,000 for alll four...

I did not know this. I have 17" Cup II rims and only looked into those sizes. Too bad, they are nice tires.

Yea it's true, there is only a few tire companies that make the 245/45-16, among them are Avon, Fuzion, Kumho, Hankook, Sumitomo, BF Goodrich and a handful of others...

Sadly, this is true about a number of tires I'd otherwise consider. Almost enough to make me think about new wheels. Thanks for the offer though! We should do a get-together soon anyway -- it was 107.2 in my garage last weekend -- yours couldn't be more than, what, 115?

Tom,

My garage is fully insulated, including the roll up door. So if I keep the doors closed it stays very confortable. You are correct though, in Gilroy last Saturday it was 114 degrees. To avoid the heat my wife and I sat inside a cool theater and watched Al Gore's movie about global warming.

Default ECSTA? Si!

I have Kumho MX on the Ferrari.

The good: they are like slicks on dry pavement. The bad (wait for it): they are like slicks on wet pavement. Think of them as track tires. I do . . . now.

When you are done with those, try out the new Hankook Ventus Evo X1 K107, the treadpattern is truly unique and beautiful, plus it outperforms the Kumho MX...check it out...

The Hankooks are more a summer dry tire, that is where they stand out, on rain I would say they are at least average...

I just put on some Fuzion ZRi's. I made a mistake and the sidewall is a little tall on each tire. They don't look quite as nice as a lower profile.

However because of that, due to the totally pothole strewn roads in So. Cal, I like them, They are quiet, very smooth on very rough roads and look ok.

Postus resurectemus!

I'll be picking up my 993 18"'s tonight so I'm shopping for tires, sorting through the pissing contest of course. I thought it was OT for a moment...

A set of Fuzion 245/265 look quite tasty at $518, while PS2's are $1116 for the same sizes. Crap - that's two for one!

Do people still like them?

Go 275 at the rear, I have those wheels and 275's fit very well..and look...well...serious.

I hear good things about Sumitomo's from tire rack...about the same price.

I am going to have to vote for the Michelin Pilot Sports. They handle great in both dry and wet and wear quietly. That being said I am not going to replace them. They wear even while sitting in the driveway. I am going back to Yoko
