Haven't made much progress over the winter but took advantage of the warm weather this weekend to make some progress. I had decided to add bus bars for the battery and switched 12+ to simplify the wiring and make it easier to troubleshoot, so I had to redo a section of the wiring I had already finished. Got that all wrapped up, the solenoid battery cutoff switch installed, and bumped the engine for the 1st time which is a milestone. Spent 1/2 hour or so trying to get the oil to prime. Couldn't get the pressure to build up and didn't have time to dig into it so I stopped for the night.

Couple pics of the bus bars and battery cut-off.

Making some progress lately. Worked on getting the oil pump primed last weekend. Was a total PITA. Tried everything - pulled the filter, poured in a half a quart or so in the hole closest to the block while turning the engine counterclockwise to prime the oil pump by hand, and pulled the spark plugs out so the motor would spin faster, etc. Couldn't get it to prime. Finally used an air gun with a rubber nozzle into the dipstick to pressurize the crankcase while cranking - worked like a charm once I figured out I needed to plug the crank breather hose.

Today I got the TEC3 cranked up. Loaded the WINTEC software on my laptop, upgraded the firmware to the latest version, and loaded the base file that Chris White gave me into the ECU. Set the crank trigger sensor, installed plug wires, etc. Cranked nicely, the WINTEC software appears to be reading everything correctly, but I could not get the engine to fire. Only had about had about 15 minutes to fool with it - will start troubleshooting tonoight and tomorrow. My AEM wideband O2 sensor is not powering up as well so I need to troublshoot that as well.

Hope to get it fired up this week and then just need to button everything up, install the lexan hatch, paint the header panel and headlight covers, and corner balance and align.

Couple pics from this afternoon:

crank open the idle air setting on the throttle body. If it is not open enough it will be very hard to start - even if you are playing with the throttle.

Feel free to call with any other questions!

Thanks guys. Hoping to have it ready for Mid-Ohio on May 1st.

Chris - I'll shoot you an email tomorrow. Did some more digging and found I don't have power to the injectors. I checked at the injectors and worked my way back to the Power Harness - fuse is fine and I don't have 12+ at either the purple/white wire or at the fuse terminal where the red wire goes in opposite the purple/white wire. Not sure where to go from there.

Skip, looks fantastic and love the wheels! What do you have in the fog lamp aperture? Looks like something designed to fit? Thanks

Thanks. There is a Setrab oil cooler tucked in behind each fog light opening.

Oh OK, so you just cut the PU away within the aperture then. Nice idea!
