Yeah - just a little corrosion on the nose on the input shaft was causing it to bind on the pilot bearing. Some sandpaper was all it took. Didn't feel or look bad, but it was enough to cause a problem.

The slow progress continues. Got the crank trigger wheel installed as well as all the sensor wiring, radiator along with most of the plumbing is in. I installed the clutch - Spec 2 lightweight and the stock flywheel, got a new Fidanza, pulled everything apart and put that in along with a Spec Stage 3 clutch. Between the input shaft problem and the upgrades I have pulled apart and put together the clutch assembly three times - getting pretty damn fast. Here are some pics:

Clutch (old Stage 2 and Stage 3 - forgot to snap a pic so I stole one from MPD47), Stage 2 pressure plate, and Fidanza flywheel:

Nothing like a truck load of BBS wheels. Just picked up two sets of BBS Motorsports wheels from a buddy - pretty amazing how light they are with the mag centers, and they are easy to swap out halves to get to the width I want. Have 8 & 9 x 17 and need to go to 10 & 12 x 17.

Skip, I understand you can swap halves but are the offsets differing for the centers or what? How do they break down?

Those wheels are awesome skip nice going. I bought a set for the street car, you can pick them up with just one finger. I guess it depends on how big your fingers are.

From what I understand, all Porsche centers are the same, and you change the offset by changing the front and rear widths. The only problems is that you are limited to 1/2" increments - so you can change your offset by +/- 1/2"

The break down by just unbolting them - they have a o-ring gasket that seals them up. I got an extra wheel half and gasket kit as well:

Skip,

Find out what size halves you need. I have a bunch of new and used 17" hoops and rings.

Those wheels look nice Skip. I have rebuilt the set I have in the last year. Check the thickness of the rim halves. I had issues with some T40s cracking right around the bolt holes. Went to thicker T50s this year and have been ok. I'd buy a few more seals because that o-ring likes to come apart when you are working with used ones. Get new bolts for everything too. Watch the clearance on your brake calipers. There are two styles of rim halves and the ones like in your last photo come really close to brakes sometimes.

Skip,
Are you running the 12s with stock fenders?

Diago - no, I have a widebody rearend, and while the front fenders are stock width they are CF and allow for a wider tire than a stock steel fender.

you know Lemm had two sets of those way back when, but that would have been a pretty good hit with the Charlie Arms + the $$ for the two sets!!!
