Perfect proof that the so-called 15% loss is bull... on a stock car,the percentage might be 15%,but here we see a car with barely 10... On a stocker the loss is about 35 hp,on this tuned one the loss is 40.6...more friction, but nowhere near the "15%" compared to the crank hp.... wonder how some guys here got claims of 60 or 80 hp loss in the drivetrain? Guys, remember, release the parking brake before going on the dyno

hey 420whp951, do you know what the amount of boost was on that dyno run? I'd be interested, just for my own knowledge. PM if you want. I'm always interested by who is doing what at what psi.

A word to the wise on this thread:

To anyone who may think that calculating airflow through a 951 engine gives you some gray area - think again.
There are some guys who have lied about boost levels on this list. They know who they are.
Keep in mind, when it is known the turbo general hardware and a few other things, it can be said almost EXACTLY what the engine will produce at any given boost level.

Porsche guys are unique in that they are afraid of high boost. I don't know why, when the engine is tuned for it. Therefore, it is VERY unethical (monetarily motivated) to lie about boost levels here.

I am going to post some dyno sheets in the next 2 weeks here from a couple of popular cars - I will post the TRUE boost levels.
Anyone who posts a lie from now on will be challenged obnoxiously by me.

Those numbers are also uncorrected.

Still campaigning to get my numbers raised

And can you correct my name on the list...It's RKD in OKC not RKD in OKD.

ok.....to answer as many questions about my car as i can........

i bought my car just over a year ago from andrew sweetenham of promaxmotorsport in the UK. he is a well known and respected guy in the porsche racing world in britain. he also supplies tuning hardware, chips etc on his website promaxmotorsport.com for most porsche models but primarily the 944 turbo.

my engine is a 2.8 stoker with the 3ltr crank, carillo rods and mahle pistons. fuel is fed with siemens 55/hr injectors and the turbo is the kokeln club turbocharger. kokeln stage 2 intercooler, k&n air filter with custom made stainless steel inlet tract. MAP sensor kit and a remapped ECU, dual port wastgate and bailey dump valve.

a month before i bought the car from andrew sweetenham i was reading all about it in 2 top shelf porsche magazines.....911&porsche world (page 86-91) and GT purely porsche (page 54-57) if anybody should care to check it out.....great reading if you love 944 turbo's. little did i know a month later i would be the new owner of the beast i was drooling all over in the mag features!

the dyno sheet i posted on the forum was done by andrew sweetenham in the uk in feb of 04. it was given to me with the car when i bought it along with a thick folder of receipts for parts etc over the years concerning the car.

the max hp andrew got from the car was 421.9 bhp. that was done with 18 psi boost. there is more bhp to be got if i turn the boost up and fit a new exhaust (its still stock) but andrew warned me against high boost levels and said it was set at 18 psi to be a reliable car with horsepower you can use everyday........not just once!

btw....the guy who was instumental in getting the horsepower from the car most was wayne schofield of chipwizards.co.uk he was was responsible for all the dyno work...remapping, map sensor etc.

on a final note ..... this forum is a wonderful place....lots of great articles and amazing stuff about our cars, i mainly read the posts and observe whats going on and i'm truly blown away by some of the great cars on here....both stock and tuned....well done to everyone. i'm not a mechanic nor am i a tuning guru like some of you guys....i'm an enthusiast like most people on here. i dont really care if certain people come back at me disputing my cars credentials etc. my car speaks for itself....its well known in britain and europe and the guy who built is a well respected guy in the 944 world. i'm happy with my car.....i know there are more powereful 944 turbo's out there and i think its great also, i'm just glad to be a part of this and long may it continue!!!!!!

cheers all!!

It is true that we cant run the boost that other engines can. We have huge cylinders leading to detonation and an open deck design that limits power until you get deck locking sleeves.

These problems might not be apparent to someone who never pushes the car besides on 1 cold dyno run, but if you want the car to last on the track or for extended fast street driving on a hot day you cant run 25+ pounds of boost. Fuel is another issue. Do you dyno on the same fuel you use daily?

well said mark944turbo......its all about reliable daily hp....not once off glory dyno runs at crazy boost levels.

in europe we are fortunate to have 98 octane pump gas......the best here in the US is 93....can anyone tell me why that is??????
