This is a startup and the car running for maybe ten seconds, after that the data starts flashing and the scroll bar flashes and the program looks like it is having trouble scrolling down. The car runs fine the whole time.

Is that the log file?
Were you able to get the floppies?
Can you post a log file of the ComLink software?

Mark, you might have a bad cable. Don't use the long cable that comes with the tuning-module. Just the short one for the serial-link and then a longer serial cable if you need distance.

That is just what i copied and pasted out of the program itself. I will post a comlink sample soon. And I am using the cable that came with the Serial Link box. Danno I dont think the cable is bad because the comlink works fine. I will try to find a log file of the new software, I havent been able to get one saved yet.

It should automatically save it in C:\ no matter where you run it. You have to press new run then start logging to save a log.

I got an actual log file to save, usually they would show up blank. Here it is:

When i try to save this file the normal way i save files, like file-save as- select floppy disk in drop down menu, it gets all jumbled. Then I can somewhat save it by doing word wrap, but this still makes more rows. What does word wrap do? And why does notepad try to condense files when it saves them? It seems like this is the problem...

Wow! Something is seriously wrong! The problem is that on my car it works fine... We need someone else to try the program and see what they get.
I'm not sure what you mean by saving the files. Make sure your font is Courier New and word wrap is off. Word wrap puts a carriage return at the end of a line that is too long to fit on one line. What do you mean by condense files?

If i try to save the "good" comlink file to another place on the computer, notepad messes it up. For example, copy and paste my file with nice and neat rows into notepad, then try to save it. Then open it up. The new file will be all screwed up, just like the files I am getting with your new software. I know nothing about programming, but this seems like a clue to me.

Go to run and type regsvr32.exe /u mscomm32.ocx and press enter.
Download this and save it to C:\windows\system\
Then go to Run and type regsvr32.exe mscomm32.ocx and press enter.
Then try the program again.

You mean copy the example you posted and paste the text into notepad and save it? I did and it opened fine. Maybe try to open the files with something other than notepad?

Also make sure your text's font is Courier New. Select all the text and then change its font to Courier New.

Edit, i lied. It only gets jumbled when I take the datalogged file, as in the file I copied this out of: 844 42 24 51 0 37 24 49

817 39 23 49 0 36 20 33

836 41 24 49 0 36 21 49

823 40 24 49 0 40 20 49

844 39 23 50 0 36 20 33

841 42 24 50 0 40 24 49

821 39 24 50 0 36 20 33

835 42 24 49 0 40 24 49

843 40 24 50 0 36 20 49

812 39 24 49 0 36 20 33

844 41 24 49 0 37 21 49

846 42 24 50 0 37 24 49

and try to save it onto another part of the computer. With word wrap on or off. On both my laptop and desktop, both with windows 98.

Danno, have you tried yet?

Yes, if i copy that into notepad, then save it, it opens up all jumbled. With word wrap both on and off. On both my desktop and laptop, both running windows 98. WTF?

Danno have you tried the new software yet?
That is really strange! Try opening it with Wordpad, MS Word, or even IE.
