Default Test pipe choices

When I get the 951, the first thing I'm going to do is install the Europroducts chips that I already have. Immediately after that I plan to take the cat out of the (exhaust) box and get a test pipe.

Does anyone have any recommendations on which test pipe to get, or if it really matters? I've heard of SFR's and Bursch's so far... is there any main difference between the two, or any other competitors?

Finally, does anyone have any dyno-backed documentation for the power gains from any test pipe? I'm looking for a "before" and "after" chart or numbers.

Thanx!

That's quite discouraging... I've heard from about 4 owners that they were a large improvement over stock, though not as good as Guru, any ideas on that?

How much do you sell the test pipe for? And is it coated, mild steel...?

Bursch, have it ceramic coated (prevents rust) and have fun

Better yet find a used Bursch for ~$100....but then you'd have to clean up any rust before the coating.

Unless you want a 3" pipe...then you need to go lindsey or SFR. A few others make them too, but more $$.

Bursch all the way, I wouldn't even consider the others for your purposes...waste of money IMO.

You could just weld in a straight pipe in place of the cat on your factory exhaust, thats the cheapest way to do it. But then you cant swap in/out for emissions if thats a concern. Also the bursch cleans up the bends compared to the stock piece.

Would the SFR bolt up to a Lindsey fabspeed catback or is the flange different? I am wanting a 3 inch one, but I dont think I want to spend 550 for the stainless Lindsey one.

Adrial, if this summer I'm still working at the raceshop back home that I've worked at for the past 2 years, I'll most likely just make my own test pipe with tubing and flanges. If I'm not though, I don't have the resources to do that at my house (no welder yet), so I'm looking for a pre-made option.

What's the price difference between different stock exhaust diam. test pipes?

Ebay and Rennlist are probably your best sources for used Bursch pipes.

Keep an eye out and eventually you'll find something.

Well if we are talking bang for buck shure bursch is fine i was simply stating quality and craftmanship as well as function. The europroduct chips where the first chips i tryed when i first started modding my car ill tell you what put them in test them for a week then ill send you a set of my chips to try out and you can make up your own mind. Im Not trying to be a smart *** just real shure about what im saying.

Hey to each his own... the more people argue about the topic and backup their statements with facts, the more I learn about the subject and can make a more informed decision for myself on the matter

superjet, I don't doubt that there are better chips out there, but I got my Europroducts for a steal a while back and am willing to give them a try. If they don't meet decent expectations, then I will sell them on eBay for the price I paid, 'nuff said.

As for the test pipe, I think about a hundred would be the most I would want to spent. I saw one advertised for $80 one time, but stupidly didn't copy the site down. I'm very tempted to just make my own at the shop and save myself the money and boost my pride of the car. However, if that's not possible, I want to know which I would be happiest with, and that does include price!
