Bit of a shame, it looks like a really solid, maintained, and very complete car. A serious stem-to-stern detail and chassis steam clean would have provided some significant ROI. Sounds like there was some post-auction interest in closing a deal (?)
Charlie Sheen and Chuck's former '94 GTS on BaT. Not a big fan of the modern phone dials on a GTS. Curious choice for a sales presentation. Also bold decision to offer at No Reserve.
I agree Nate, the after market oversize phone dials on it make it look almost like clown wheels. All of the elegance and subtlety of the 16" OEM phone dials is lost on these. Way too big for that design. Very Lambo like, which I do not care for at all. I'd swap out for 17" Cup 1's.

Yep, don't disagree. Especially when trying to capture the "broader" market. I would have offered the Augments with the sale and had a separate picture of them at the end of the reel of photos. Probably won't make much of a difference in the end. This one is gonna sell for a nice sum.
Agree, the Augments look a little freakish on it.
I had the Carrara IIIs on the car most of the time I had it.
Car came to me with Cup 2s. By 94, I believe they were standard vs the older Cup 1s.
Personally, I LOVE those Augment wheels!! When I found out about them, it was AFTER I bought my 18" BBS RS-GTs. Else, I would have these Augment Phone Dials on my car right now! To me, they are much better the Cup Is or IIs. (or D90s).

I like them also, but I think the ideal wheel size asthetically for a 928 is the 17". Does augment make a 17?

The boys and girls at Porsche designed the car for 17" wheels. I agree with most that 18"s are bit clownish but I'm curious about the weight. They have to be heavier (18") which is not a good thing.
The advantage of 17''s vs 15" or 16"s is tire choice. I would think that the last thing you would want is a heavy rotating mass. As far as traction with bigger wheels and tires ( ie: contact patch ) I don't understand this either. Current F1 cars now using 18" are heavier as well. Also with 18"s I assume the tire will be using a lower profile tire which in todays pot hole world is not a good thing either.
For whatever it's worth, my 17" Augment phone dials are 25 lbs 3 oz (7.5 x 17 ET 65) and 26 lbs even (9 x 17 ET 55), vs. a stock Cup 1 front wheel with RDK, 23 lb 1 oz (7.5 ET 17 x 65) and Cup 1 rear, 27 lb 4 oz (9 x 17 ET 55). Would be interesting to know what the Augment 18s weigh. Though I prefer the 17s from a ride comfort standpoint, from a pure looks standpoint I don't think there's a better looking aftermarket wheel than Olmann's 18' '86 951 Turbo-look 18's.)
