oh how said. Michael experienced a steep decline in his business and his personal life over the last few years. Honestly, I’m not surprised to hear this. Michael was always good to me. I know he had a lot of haters and I think he kinda revealed in the fact that he could get such an emotional rise out of people.

.....if the truth be known, he single handily did more for the rising values of the 928 then any one person.

Godspeed my friend.

I'd start with this guy who appears to be the seller or previous owner.

Hmm, it looks on its face like a nice car, but I see lots of little things to watch for. I'm not sure the paint is original, hard to tell, given the general condition of the car. That engine bay is a mess, with spark plug wires not properly positioned, the green wire hanging down like it is, and the dirt and leaves. However, that stuff costs nothing to clean and correct with proper tie downs (not sure why not done prior to listing). The interior looks nice at first glance. Lots of positives, including rear quarter panels not warped. Missing rear seat belts, hatch courtesy light, and the leather is pulling up. Missing radio, missing window switch, etc. I'd want to see and drive it before buying it. It looks like a great starting point for a restoration if the mechanicals are sound.

Bought my daughter a 79 as a learning project.
Figure if she can fix this she can take on any automotive challenge. It runs great drives goodish, I have not driven much. Nice interior really nice for original 79. Paint sux and needs trans synchro. But a great project for a 13 year old.
Personally I think If you have the time patience and most importantly the garage space this is a great year model
To develop your skills and a fun OB to drive.
IMHO

Lots of orange peel in the paint!! Definitely not original paint. ( Dark gray with metal flake) Rear quarters don't look like they have the proper body lines. (Not defined very well). Just my observations.

Not easy to do, but I'm looking at a Cayman tomorrow; Don't tell Gretchen; I've truly enjoyed her and all she has provided me. More pics and details in the Marketplace ad. If things don't work out, I'll deny it ever happened.

owning a 981 for five years and multiple 928s I can safely say they provide two different driving experiences. The 928 lives up to the GT moniker and I actually prefer it on longer trips. The cayman is special and sounds great, can be used as a daily and at the same time be tracked or auto crossed. GLWS.
