At $55k Rob's '89 is a steal. At that price you're getting the GT for free and just paying for (most of, not all of) the restoration.

I think that '91 GT was criminally undersold, it is one of the rarest and most desirably configured US market cars out there, and the mileage really worked against it. I did pull the motor out of the '91GT, but it and the rest of the car was primarily an exercise in cosmetics. It did get an intake refresh, timing belt and waterpump, new shocks, motor mounts, fuel lines, MAF, and PSD service, but that was about it.

I would say that Greg and I went considerably deeper on this '89GT - the premise was to completely restore it so there are no questions about anything. In addition to a complete glass-out strip-down for paint (including de-rubstripping), the engine went to a bare block, and the transmission came completely apart. Porsche timing belt. Porsche waterpump. We did a bunch pre-emptive fixes of things that weren't broken for maximum reliability. The LH brain and MAF were fine, they still got refurbed by JDS Porsche and Injection Labs. The injectors were cleaned and flow tested. We couldn't assess the 59K mile axles and wheel bearings so I rebuilt the axles and replaced the rear wheel bearings. All the suspension hardware on the car was removed and re-plated. The HVAC head tested ok, but the relay was repaired by Greg's shop preemptively The in-tank fuel pump short hose was upgraded with Goodridge hose. The AC got a brand-new compressor, new receiver drier, new O-rings and a new expansion valve, and virgin Dupont R12 . The torque tube spun smoothly out of the car, but I had three of Mark's new bearing carriers installed. It has brand new Bridgestone RE-11s with 2017 date codes on it. It has a brand new Sachs friction disc and a correct -12 GT pressure plate. New GB fuel, brake and oil lines. New O2 sensor. Rebuilt the power steering pump. New rack bushings and guibo. Refreshed the original Reno head unit, 6-channel amp, and re-foamed the 4 midrange and 2 woofers. New heater valve. New H6 battery. You get the idea. It shouldn't need anything for a long time.

WOW....very nice.......I was hoping Rob would keep it a bit longer so I could save up more funds and get approval from the family CFO (not me of course)

Me too. Based on what Rob's done, it is worth considerably more than that. But everyone knows that "worth" and "get" are often two different things.

I take it back. $55k wouldn't cover 'most' of the restoration if you were paying a shop for parts and labor. Labor for dis-assembly and reassembly for 6-glass-out paint plus prep and paint is no small sum.

It was a bear, rolling it back and forth to get that Potenza lined up just so.

BTW, If anyone needs a great photographer in SoCal, PM me, I'll put you in touch. Doug does great work.

So I assume FM 92.8 doesn't tune in down your way.

Default 1993 Porsche 928 GTS Hatchback - $89,990 in DFW

This is for sale in DFW, whose car is this? 5spd w/ 69k.
Funny, this is the first 928 I've seen other than my '89 S4 that has the factory car phone antenna installed on the roof.

Absolutely stunning Rob.
I'm not sure how you could part with it after all that effort and end result, but I wish you the best of luck with the sale and hope it exceeds your expectations.

Question for you.
What are your ride height measurements?

Posting for a buddy of mine. 1988 S4 5-speed with 127,xxx miles that has had everything done plus a ton of personal touches. Owned for 8, almost 9 years now.

Asking price is $30,000.00.

Rebuilt the engine 2 years ago and the only reason that happened was due to pulling the engine to replace that AC line that runs from the expansion valve to the drier and branches to the rear A/C and the owner said "why not" so we did. Heads had extensive flow bench work done and port matched the intake (no clue if it did any good but was fun) new everything in those and GT cams installed with DLC coated lifters. Intake has had everything replaced with factory parts including a JDS MAF. TB/WP done with Gates belt, latest PKT, new gears etc. New FPR and dampers, fuel lines, etc. Stock headers but Ott X-pipe and SLC exhaust. New clutch a few years ago with all new factory bits. Bilstein shocks with new bump stops. Ott drop links on the rear and a blue Devek front sway bar and links. The mount to body for the sway bar has been reinforced as they all need with this sway bar. Alternator was swapped for a 370amp unit produced by Nations at the request of the owner, been installed for 8 years now and pumps some great power. A newer CSF radiator, Han's fan set up and crossbar. Rebuilt LH by JDS, PEM's tuned by Colin Jensen on a dyno and street.

About the only thing that has not been touched, and currently does not need are the torque tube bearings and the transmission.

Interior wise has Classic 9 Leathershop 8 way power seats converted to sport seats. Factory leather pod that has no cracks, along with a great dash. Door panels have been modified to accommodate 8" and 6" speakers along with the cross overs in the door to split the sound to those and the factory located 4" and tweets. In place of the parcel shelves are two Wave guide speakers. Rear seat has been deleted and the enclosure has two 10" subs and amps. All speakers are DLS as it was a sponsored car for audio competitions (Pro/am SQ) and won 12 1st place finishes.Mind blowing. ETA: Amps are JL900/5 and Polk 500/2 with a Rockford 360.3 processor. All of this can be removed and factory bits put in, just need to source door cards. Do have the rear seats on hand and will come with the sale. The ash tray area has an engine temp gauge and volt meter. Temp is taken from the passenger side block drain plug. Fuel tank has been replaced during ownership with new strainer, pump and filter. New carpet from Classic9.

AC system is all basically new, still R-12 and blows cold, very cold. Vents for the rear AC were installed in the rear seat delete to assist in cooling the amps and also blows cold on the back of your neck.

Exterior wise, in great shape, front has one slight burn through mark due to an aggressive polisher. Can't find a picture of it. Wheels are CCW specially made for the 928 when they actually still made to order wheels. The hood has vents located just behind the radiator and we noticed about a 10 degree drop in temp at idle on 100 degree days in traffic. This was also aided by the installation of a pusher Spal fan in front of the condenser. Rear tail lights are 2 years old and fitted with LEDs modified to light not just the single bulb as with the factory one, but all 3 along that line. Front head lights are 7" LED Truck Lites. Front fogs and driving lights are a self sourced and modified cubes that work like the factory lights, but produce an ungodly amount of light when on.

Pics were robbed from my FB page so all are from various days etc.
Any questions just ask or hit me up at Sean@928docs.com

Are you referring to the bee sting antennae? The 88 Sean posted has it and mine has it : https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-sale-528.html

It is not rare.

It is not rare.
I'm referring to the separate small car phone antenna, not the factory radio antenna.
