I'll post here so no one else has to dig it up on Craigslist... my project car has to go... very sad:

My last resort will be to call PickNPull, which would be a real shame. Someone save it

I’d be interested in that.

1987 928 s4
Hey guys,
my cousin just gave me a tip that his girlfriends uncle in Malone NY has a 928 he's trying to sell before he moves. I unfortunately don't have pics (right now), but the info I got thus far was that it is a tan colored 87 S4, (automatic), not sure on the miliage, it needs A arms replaced as well as the tires. Here's the kicker though, it has been sitting for 10+ years...it was parked due to a 'noise' in the front of the car. Claims it has a good body and interior, though I haven't seen it myself. He was looking to get somewhere around $5k for it.
Now, I've just purchased my first 928 only a few months ago and I know you guys say on the forum that these things are like lay's potato chips (you can't just have one), but I told him (my cousin) I would ask the veterans on Rennlist for advice first before even looking at it. If I were to buy another one, before actually driving the one I own first, my wife might begin to question our marriage. ^_^
What are your thoughts on a 928 sitting for 10+ years. How many thousands might it possibly take to get her back to life? Tan isn't exactly my favorite color, but then again, my wife could drive an automatic...
Thanks guys, if I don't rescue it, perhaps someone else on here might want to. I will post pics if I take the drive over there.

Race Car
My car had sat for at least that long before I bought it for also around $5K. I put in around $15K to get mine roadworthy. I did not have any information on it like you do on this one. However it was in a garage that entire time. Do you know if this car has been sitting inside or outside? One thing for sure, the entire fuel system will need gone through. My car had varnished and sludgy fuel everywhere. Also if the coolant was not drained it likely has turned acidic and done a number on the engine block and head gasket.

I happened to see this one on CL as I was perusing. No connection, but if someone is interested, let me know, it's not far from my house so I'll gladly go take a look at it. I'm sure it needs more than a fuel tank, but you can't beat the price. I'm not a 928 guy, but I figured I'd let my fellow Rennlisters know in case anyone was in the market.

RE-ENTRODUCING: 1978 Manual with Pasha
Been a member for a while, but never posted anything. Always enjoy reading this thread. I enjoyed it so much, it inspired me to buy a particular 928 a few years back.

This is the 928 that GT6ixer described as "Rough around the edges but not bad at all. Someone should scoop this up quickly." Yep, it is the same OB that was on Jalopnik Nice Price or Crack Pipe.
I brought it out to Cali from Connecticut. Had some major work done at DeVitos down in the OC. It passed emissions and is registered in California now. Enjoyed it until the wife told me it had to go.
There is a short fuse on the auction. It closes on Saturday afternoon.
Thanks for letting me crash the party. Please forgive any technical mistakes I make posting. I'm a bit of a Luddite.

It would seem that it has been garaged for this entire time, however, I'm not sure if it is heated or not (probably not). Did you have to replace the head gasket on yours when you bought it? is that why the cost to get it road worthy climbed up so fast? or was it just everything combined? By roadworthy you simply mean safely 'drivable' right?
Thanks for the input!

So this may be a stupid question, but isn't the tool kit in the pictures of this ad worth about 25-33% of the asking price? Though the pliers do look a little too shiny. The car itself would fall into the category of "juice isn't worth the squeeze". I'm just curious though...
